The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) has acted as a lead anchor investor in the USD225 million SPO of Lenta Ltd, one of the largest and most successful retail chains in Russia.  In its role, RDIF was joined by its co-investors and partners from the Middle East, Asia and Europe alongside other investors to support growth and development of Lenta in Russia. The RDIF participated in an accelerated book build placement of global depositary receipts representing newly issued shares in Lenta Ltd. The proceeds significantly strengthened the Company’s balance sheet and will facilitate its rapid store expansion program across Russia.

The majority of institutional investors actively consider ESG criteria when making alternative investment allocations, according to a survey by LGT Capital Partners and Mercer.  The survey of 97 institutional investors in 22 countries, also found that most believe ESG improves risk-adjusted returns and is an important aspect of risk and reputation management. Titled “Global Insights on ESG in Alternative Investing,” the research focuses on why and how institutional investors incorporate ESG considerations in alternative asset classes. Private equity firm OpenGate Capital has completed the sale of Kotkamills Oy, to MB Funds, an independent Finnish private equity firm focused on acquisitions in the Nordic market.  Kotkamills, located in Kotka, Finland, is a manufacturer of specialty papers and wood-based products. Financial terms were not disclosed. Acquired from Stora Enso in July of 2010, Kotkamills represents one of the most complex carve-out and transitions for OpenGate Capital to date. Atlas Holdings has completed the sale of Olympic Panel Products to Swanson Group Manufacturing LLC, a Pacific Northwest forest products company.  Located in Shelton, Washington, Olympic Panel is a subsidiary of New Wood Resources, and is the largest overlay plywood manufacturer in North America.
