Lynn Nicholson has joined the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA) as senior communications manager.   Nicholson’s (pictured) responsibilities include the delivery of member, industry and press communications with a particular focus on strategy and content.   An experienced communications professional and M&A consultant, Nicholson joins from B2Boost, a pan-European IT service provider, where she headed up the communications and marketing functions. Ridgemont Equity Partners, a middle market buyout and growth equity investor, has closed an equity investment in Simpleview, a provider of software and digital marketing services to destination marketing organisations (DMOs).   The existing management team, led by chief executive Ryan George and president Rich Reasons, will continue to run the business and has invested alongside Ridgemont in the transaction.   The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.   Headquartered in Tucson, Arizona, Simpleview provides a cloud-based comprehensive technology platform which connects DMOs around the world to travellers, meeting planners, and local businesses. PwC’s recent survey of private equity backed companies indicates that the popular perception of private equity as an investor only involved for short term gains could not be further from the truth. The reality is that PE houses are perceived as more willing to finance companies than traditional lenders and prepared to invest for growth.   The survey of nearly 100 PE backed companies in the UK found that 74 per cent of portfolio companies said their PE backers were willing to invest further capital into their businesses, compared to 66 per cent of respondents saying the same about their

Offshore law firm Mourant Ozannes has advised on a EUR350m private equity fund for DPE Deutsche Private Equity.   The team, led by partner Joel Hernandez and assisted by Kerill O’Shaughnessy, Jonathon MacFeeters, Matt Satchell and Stefan Chinniah, provided Jersey advice in connection with the launch and closing of DPE Germany II and its related feeder fund (DPE II).   DPE II is the second fund for DPE Deutsche Private Equity, a German investment firm.   DPE II has closed with approximately EUR350m of capital commitments from approximately 20 institutional investors. Somo is one of the first beneficiaries of the new MMC London Fund, launched this week at London’s City Hall.   The fund, managed by the Mayor of London and partly financed by a grant from the European Regional Development Fund, is intended to support the growth of London-based businesses.   The investment from MMC Ventures will primarily be used to further expand and develop Somo’s licensed mobile technology products and platforms.   Somo, which celebrated its fourth birthday last month, has also announced the opening of a second London office to house its team of 20 technology engineers.
