Private equity firm Carrick Capital Partners has held the final close of its first fund at USD180m.
The fund will invest in companies that focus on technology-enabled service offerings, business process outsourcing, transaction processing, software as a service and enterprise software.
Carrick Capital Partners was co-founded by Marc McMorris, a former General Atlantic managing director who led investments in business services and software, and Jim Madden, the previous founder and chief executive of Exult, a human resources business processing company that he grew from concept to more than USD500m in revenues.

Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group has raised USD1.38bn for energy credit investments.
Carlyle Energy Mezzanine Opportunities Fund (CEMOF) primarily targets investments in projects and companies in the power generation and energy sectors requiring capital of USD20m to USD150m per transaction.
The fundraising effort exceeded Carlyle’s initial goal of USD750m.

Cherwell Software, a provider of an IT service management platform, has closed a USD25m minority equity investment from Insight Venture Partners.
Cherwell Software will use the growth capital to accelerate growth of its channel sales programme globally and to build additional applications and services to broaden the capabilities of its IT Services Management (ITSM) platform.
As part of the transaction, Richard Wells, managing director at Insight Venture Partners, will join Cherwell Software’s board of directors.

Advent Software has launched a new interface between Tamale RMS and IntraLinks offering multi-manager organisations enhanced information automation and significant time savings with their research and due diligence processes.
Advent’s Tamale RMS is the only RMS to offer the IntraLinks service to its multi-manager clients.
The interface:

Northzone has acquired an additional 11 per cent of Trustpilot, a provider of retailer reviews, from the Danish governmental seed investment vehicle DTU Symbion Innovation.
This brings Northzone’s holding in Trustpilot close to 35 per cent post transaction, making it one of the two largest investors in the company.

The European Investment Fund (EIF) and Axis, the venture capital entity of the Instituto Crédito Oficial (ICO) have launched the European Angels Fund – Fondo Isabel la Católica.
Richard Pelly (pictured), chief executive of EIF, and Román Escolano, president of ICO and Axis, signed the agreement to create the EAF-Fondo Isabel la Católica in the presence of Fernando Jiménez Latorre, Spain’s Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs.
After its successful launch in Germany in March 2012, Spain is the second country to benefit from this new facility.
