Aureos Capital Limited’s Emerge Central America Growth Fund (EMERGE) has provided Mayaland Villas Inc, owner of Ka’ana Boutique Resort in Belize (pictured), with a facility to expand its operations.
Aureos is a leading private equity fund management company specialising in investing in small and medium sized businesses in emerging markets. This is the ninth investment for its EMERGE fund.
Ka’ana is ranked as the number one hotel in its region by TripAdvisor and was a TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice 2010 Romance Winner for Central and South America. The hotel, which currently has 15 rooms, is Belize’s first Small Luxury Hotel
Monument Capital Partners (MCP), an Indianapolis-based private equity fund, along with partners John Campbell and Joe Mansfield have completed the sale of Separators, Inc to a strategic buyer.
Located in Indianapolis and founded in 1985, Separators, Inc., specializes in servicing and remanufacturing industrial centrifuge equipment used in various industries including: dairy, beverage, bio-med, edible oil, pharmaceutical, meat rendering and industrial fluids.
MCP acquired Separators on June 14, 2005 with John Campbell, and Joe Mansfield. Campbell has served as CEO and Mansfield has served as COO/CFO since the acquisition. Both will continue in their roles with the strategic buyer.

AirAsia X, the long haul low fare affiliate of AirAsia carried 0.64million passengers in the first three months of 2011, an increase of 56.5% over the same quarter in 2010.
AirAsia X, which currently operates on nine Airbus A330s and two Airbus A340s, added six new routes in Q1-2011 versus Q1-2010: Mumbai, Delhi, Tehran, Seoul, Tokyo, and Paris. Its aircraft fleet size also increased from 8 to 11.
In terms of passenger traffic, AirAsia X grew by 59.8% to 3.6 billion Revenue-Passenger-Kms (RPKs) for Q1-2011, making it the second largest low-cost carrier in Southeast Asia, after AirAsia Malaysia. It’s capacity
Carey Olsen senior associate David Crosland (pictured) was called to the Guernsey Bar last month having passed his Bar exams to become an advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey.
Crosland is a member of Carey Olsen’s corporate group where he undertakes a wide range of corporate transactions, with a particular focus on private equity, and the launch, administration, restructuring and listing of both closed and open-ended investment funds. As well as private equity funds, he has advised funds listed on the LSE, AIM, Euronext and the CISX.

Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co, through investment funds and accounts managed by KKR Asset Management LLC (KAM) will make an investment in Australian recycling group, CMA Corporation Ltd (CMA).
CMA has been in voluntary suspension since February 2010 and the company has been undertaking a capital structure review. CMA and KAM have been in discussions since December. KAM, on behalf of its funds and accounts, made its first investment in the company in March 2011 when through a secondary purchase, it became the largest holder of the company’s Syndicated Facility Agreement.

JD Byrider, the Indianapolis-based leading used car sales and finance business, has been acquired by private equity firm Altamont Capital Partners (Altamont).
With a long-term investment horizon, Altamont will provide strategic direction, experienced resources and additional capital to support the company’s growth and franchisee expansion initiatives. The acquisition of JD Byrider is Altamont’s first investment from its USD500 million inaugural fund, which closed late last year. The firm is focused on acquiring and building middle-market businesses across a range of industries.

A joint venture formed by Cerberus Capital Management and Chatham Lodging Trust has been selected as the winning bidder in the bankruptcy court auction related to 64 Innkeepers USA Trust hotels. Under the terms of the winning bid, the newly-formed joint venture agreed to purchase the hotels for a total purchase price of approximately USD1.125 billion, including the assumption of debt.

Kingdom Zephyr Africa Management Company (“Kingdom Zephyr” or “the firm”), the pan-African private equity firm, has opened a new office in Lagos, Nigeria.
