After a prolonged deal-making slump, private equity transactions are beginning to be fuelled by an “explosion of private debt”, according to Ken Jacobs, the Chief Executive Officer of Lazard, a financial advisory and asset management firm and one of the world’s largest private banks. A report by Bloomberg quotes Jacobs as saying in a telephone interview on Thursday that: “The growth of the private credit markets has really supercharged the ability of companies to get financing.” Jacobs added that he expects that more readily available financing will fuel an uptick in mergers, while companies restructuring their finances may avoid bankruptcy,
Palamon Capital Partners, a pan-European private equity firm based in London, has completed the sale of 24 ORE Business School to Digit’Ed, an Italian managerial training hub owned by Nextalia Private Equity Fund. 
Palatine has added to its Manchester-based team with the appointment of Rachael Taplin as an Investment Manager for its Impact Fund. Taplin joins from Grant Thornton, where she spent more than two-and a-half years in the corporate finance team. During her time with Grant Thornton, Taplin advised on several key deals across the North West including Palatine’s Impact Fund exit from Veincentre in late 2022.     In her new role, Taplin will be responsible for deal origination, execution, and working with management teams to deliver their strategy post investment. Kelso & Co and Juggernaut Capital Partners, the private equity backers of Foundation Consumer Healthcare, are considering a potential sale of the company with a price tag of up to $4bn, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Astorg has held an interim closing of its its flagship fund, Astorg VIII, with total fund commitments of €4bn, which represents about 90% of the target size and hard cap of €4.5bn, and a nearly 10% increase on Astorg’s predecessor fund. 
Private, employee-owned investment firm Neuberger Berman has held the final close of the NB Credit Opportunities Fund II with approximately $2.5bn in limited partner capital commitments, exceeding the fund’s initial target of $1.5bn.
