Dechert LLP has appointed private equity fund lawyer Sam Kay as a partner in the firm’s financial services and investment management practice in London.
With over 25 years of experience advising on investment funds, Kay specialises in fund formation work for a wide range of private funds and asset management clients in the private equity, private debt/credit, infrastructure, and real estate sectors. He also regularly works on GP-led transactions and secondaries (both buy-side and sell-side), carried interest arrangements and co-investment schemes.

Multinational law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton has added to its private equity practice in London with the appointment of leveraged finance specialist Ed Aldred as a partner.
Aldred joins from Linklaters where he spent over 20 years – the past five as co-head of the firm’s financial sponsor leveraged finance practice.
Aldred has expertise across the spectrum of debt products and in several key financial jurisdictions, including London, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore, with a particular emphasis on leverage finance and loan/bond structures.
Citigroup Inc has appointed Robin Rousseau and Barry Weir as co-heads of the company’s mergers and acquisitions business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, according to a report by Bloomberg, with the pair replacing Alison Harding-Jones who is leaving the business.
The report cites an internal memo as revealing that Rousseau, who joined from Deutsche Bank AG in 2020, will remain in Paris, and Weir, a JPMorgan Chase & Co veteran who moved to Citigroup last year, will remain based in London.

Ethos Capital has appointed Jim Miller, who previously served in senior executive roles at Amazon, Cisco, Google, and Wayfair, as the firm’s newest Executive Partner.
Ethos says Miller’s role will be to help mid-stage companies scale their operations through “hyper-growth” phases.
Miller’s appointment takes the number of executive partners who work exclusively with Ethos to provide portfolio companies with sector-specific expertise to enhance operations and accelerate growth, to 17.
Angeles Equity Partners, a specialist lower middle-market private equity investment firm focused on underperforming industrial businesses, has appointed Adam Lerner as an operating partner at Angeles Operations Group.
Great Hill Partners, a private equity firm that targets investments of $100 million to $500 million in high-growth companies across the software, digital commerce, financial technology, healthcare, and digital infrastructure sectors, has opened a London office to support its investment activity in the UK and Europe.
The London office will serve as Great Hill’s regional hub for the UK and Europe, providing the firm with a dedicated local presence, greater access to investment opportunities, and resources for portfolio companies. Longtime Great Hill Managing Director Drew Loucks will lead the new office and grow the London team.

International Venture Capital investment firm Runa Capital has made two additions to its team with the appointments of Stu Libby as a venture partner and Max Corbani as a senior associate.
As a serial startup founder, Libby was the CEO of Zipdrug, where Runa Capital was the company’s largest investor. Zipdrug was acquired by Anthem in 2020, and after the successful exit, Libby became an investor in Runa. Before Zipdrug, Libby was co-founder and chief revenue officer of Circulate (FKA Solve Media), which was acquired by LiveRamp in 2016. He previously worked for DoubleClick and Google.

Keensight Capital, a private equity manager dedicated to pan-European growth buyout investments, has appointed Cindy Giraud as communications director. In her new role at Keensight, Giraud will manage and develop the firm’s global communications.
She will oversee both internal and external communications, including public relations, press relations, and digital communications.
Keensights says Giraud’s appointment will support the firm’s growth as a partner for fast-growing and profitable companies across technology and healthcare.
