Law firm Morrison & Foerster has appointed Serena Tan as a partner in the corporate group in the firm’s Hong Kong office.
A native Mandarin speaker, Tan comes to the firm from Debevoise & Plimpton bringing expertise in fund formation and fund management.
Her joining Morrison & Foerster also further builds on the firm’s recent expansion in Hong Kong.

Pan-European private equity firm IK Investment Partners has appointed Johan Van de Steen as operating partner as of April 2017.
Van de Steen will head IK’s strategy, operations and business control (SOBC) team.
Van de Steen, 51, has substantial hands-on industrial experience, acquired over more than two decades in the corporate, management consulting and private equity environments. He began his career in industry, working for Siemens before joining McKinsey & Company as a strategy consultant. He then became one of the founding European team members of KKR Capstone. He spent 15 years in private equity before joining IK.
A record high of 251 fundraising and marketing professionals were hired by alternative asset management firms in the first quarter of 2017, according to data from the Context Jensen Partners’ Q1 2017 newsletter.

Quantexa, a big data and analytics company backed by HSBC and Albion Ventures, has opened a new office in Brussels.
Further offices in Sydney and New York are due to open within the next 12 months.
Following on from last month's USD3.3 million fund raising, Quantexa's expansion reflects a growing customer base outside the UK. The Brussels office, with an initial staff of four, will put the company in closer proximity to its clients and forms part of its aggressive international growth plans.

Global Loan Agency Services, the UK parent of the global GLAS companies, has appointed two veteran trust professionals to its global trust team.
Martin Reed and Adam Berman, long-time specialists in corporate trust administration and corporate financial services, will help lead GLAS globally as vice-presidents of corporate trust and agency administration for the Americas and its newly established trust services.
This announcement comes after GLAS Trust Company recently received its US regulatory approval, allowing the organisation to further diversify its current product offerings. The new license offers GLAS the opportunity to significantly expand its market share.

Ipreo, a provider of workflow solutions and market intelligence to financial services and corporate professionals, has hired Stephen Grady as managing director, head of market structure and strategy.
Grady comes to Ipreo with more than 20 years of industry experience, most recently at Legal & General Investment Management, where he was head of LGIM's global trading team.
Prior to LGIM, Grady was global head of dealing and sales trading at Barclays Wealth. Previously, Grady was head of global dealing for Fortis Investments based in Paris.
He will be based in London.

Campbell Lutyens, a global alternative asset advisory firm focused on fund placement and secondary transactions, has added Wayne Kozun to its advisory board.
Kozun was until recently a senior vice president at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board where his various responsibilities included management of OTPP’s global public equities portfolio, the relationship investing team and the direct long term private equity investing team.
He co-chaired OTPP’s responsible investment committee and was responsible for the opening of OTPP’s Asian office in Hong Kong in 2013. He joined OTPP in 1995.

Direct lender Beechbrook Capital, which backs small and medium-sized businesses in the UK with a turnover of between GBP10 million and GBP100 million and EBITDA of more than GBP1 million, has opened its first regional office in Manchester.
The office, in Hardman Square, Spinningfields, will support the UK SME Credit fund, which provides finance to UK SMEs.
The Manchester office will be run by investment director Matt Kenny, who joined Beechbrook at the beginning of April. His previous roles include three years as an investment director with LDC, originating and leading mid-market private equity investments, and more than six
Pan-European private equity firm Agilitas has appointed Debojit Mukherjee as chief operating officer (COO) with immediate effect.
Debojit joins Agilitas after seven years at Change Capital Partners, where he was chief financial officer and prior to that head of operations.
Earlier career positions have included director of operations and financial controller at Carbon Capital Markets and IBD analyst at Barclays Capital.
Debojit qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Bright Grahame Murray.

Neuberger Berman has appointed Jonathan Bailey as head of environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing.
Bailey is based in New York and reports to Joseph Amato, president, Neuberger Berman.
In this role, Bailey will work with the firm’s investment teams and research departments to further incorporate ESG principles into the equities, fixed income and alternatives platforms. He will help portfolio managers consider ESG as part of their analytical approach to evaluating companies and markets. He will also chair the firm’s ESG Investment Advisory Committee.
