Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) has appointed Gavin Rees as market manager on its global fund banking team in the UK. The team serves private equity and venture capital funds with banking services and customised financing.   SVB banks businesses such as Momondo, Darktrace, ReceiptBank and Made.com.   Rees has over 25 years of commercial banking experience, of which 11 years were focused on funds finance and seven years on structured finance. Harwood Capital Group has launched a new investment business to complement its existing portfolio of companies. The group has identified a significant gap in the current market and believes that investors are increasingly looking for long term, unconstrained, concentrated opportunities to invest in publicly listed small to medium sized quoted companies.   The new business (which is subject to the requisite regulatory approvals being granted) will be chaired by former HgCapital chief executive officer Ian Armitage, who has more than three decades’ industry experience in private equity and is currently chairman of The Key and non-executive director of Tenzing Private
Emlen Harmon has joined JMP Securities as a managing director and equity research analyst following regional banks. He is based in the firm’s New York office.   Earlier this month, Harmon initiated coverage of nine companies: Associated Banc-Corp; BancorpSouth, Inc. Telecommunications expert Ralf Gerbershagen will be supporting the senior adviser board of Clearwater International, a globally active corporate finance house focusing on mid-market transactions, with immediate effect. KKR and Pacific Alternative Asset Management Company (PAAMCO) are teaming up to create a new liquid alternatives investment firm by combining PAAMCO and KKR Prisma. Idinvest Partners has appointed Alban Wyniecki as an investment director.
