Private equity investment firm HIG Capital has appointed Simon Laker as Principal and Head of European Asset Management of the firm’s real estate portfolio.
Laker will be based in HIG's London office and joins the firm from Evans Randall, where he actively managed real estate investments across several European jurisdictions.

Silicon Valley Bank has appointed Wibke Pendse as Managing Director of Private Equity Finance and Banking for the UK.

SCORPEO has recruited Jack McNally as Managing Director of SCORPEO US, based in the firm’s newly opened US office in Boston and Chris Barrow as Head of Business Development, based in London.
Prior to joining SCORPEO, Jack McNally worked for Lehman Brothers and then Credit Suisse for 11 years in New York, Boston and Zurich, where he was a Managing Director and Global Head of the Managed Securities Lending Business and Head of Prime Services, Switzerland.
Chris Barrow recently joined SCORPEO from HSBC where he was a Managing Director and Global Head of Sales and Marketing for Prime Finance.

Hirschfield, who joined the firm from Mayer Brown on 27 October as a Senior Associate, has considerable expertise helping regulated businesses across the banking, investment and insurance sectors navigate the UK’s financial services regulatory regime. Lazard Asset Management has expanded its global Multi Asset capabilities with the addition of Rupert Hope as a Director and Portfolio Manager.
Based in New York, Hope will help grow the firm’s Emerging Market and Global Multi Asset solution platform.

Sidley Austin has appointed David B Denechaud and Joe F.Flack III as partners in the firm’s private equity and energy practices, respectivley. Both will be based in Sidley’s Houston office.
Denechaud focuses his practice on private equity and energy (oil and gas) M&A transactions, while Flack has built his practice around oil and gas acquisition and disposition transactions.
Denechaud’s experience includes representing private equity clients, providing capital to the exploration and production, midstream, oilfield services and alternative energy sectors. Private equity investment firm CVC has strengthened its Nordic team with the appointment of Tomas Ekman as a Partner in the Stockholm office.
Most recently a Partner and Managing Director of 3i in the Nordic region, Ekman has over 20 years of experience of private equity and senior operational executive roles.
Ekman joins CVC at a time when the Nordic team has been active with a number of successful transactions, notably the recent investments in Paroc, Synsam and Ahsell as well as the IPO of Matas.

The majority of Asian retail investors are self-directed, or do-it-yourself (DIY) investors, not relying on financial advisors to make their investment decisions.
One in three respondents to Cerulli Associates' proprietary survey of 4,000 retail investors across wealth tiers in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore indicated that they do not have a financial advisor, with nearly 40% of mass retail investors indicating they have no access to financial advice.
This is one of the key findings of Cerulli's inaugural report on Asian retail investors titled Asian Investor Segmentation: Unlocking Retail Investors' Secrets.
