Silverfleet Capital, the European mid-market private equity house, has increased the size of its investment team in Munich with the appointment of Klaus Maurer as an executive.

Maurer joins the team from Terra Firma where he worked as an analyst, based in the Frankfurt office.

Prior to Terra Firma, he worked in leveraged finance at Société General and BHF-Bank.

Maurer graduated from Intermas Malente with a degree in International Business Administration.

Neil MacDougall, managing partner, says: ‘Klaus’ appointment underlines the importance to Silverfleet Capital of the German mid-sized buyout market and our commitment to it despite the currently challenging economic climate. The sale of Jost last year was our second successful recent exit from a German investment.’

Jost World, a global manufacturer of components for commercial vehicles, was sold to Cinven in August 2008, resulting in a 3.1x money multiple and an IRR of 47 per cent on the original equity investment.

In December 2006 Silverfleet Capital sold BST Safety Textiles, based in Maulberg, to International Textile Group generating a 72 per cent IRR and a 2.1x money multiple.
