Perwyn, a pan-European growth oriented private equity investor, is to acquire European Sperm Bank (ESB) from Axcel in a transaction which is expected to close in Q3 2022. Maven Capital Partners (Maven) has invested a further £1 million in MirrorWeb. Funded via Maven’s VCTs, the investment brings the total amount invested in the business by Maven clients to £4.5 million. Manchester based MirrorWeb is a cloud-based SaaS platform that enables organisations to capture, archive and monitor website and social media content for digital oversight and regulatory compliance. Its solution is particularly attractive to businesses who operate in regulated markets where maintaining and preserving their digital footprint is imperative.  Maven first backed the business in 2018 with funding through NPIF Maven Equity Finance, part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment
Private equity firm Lovell Minnick Partners (LMP) to acquire to acquire a majority stake in London & Capital, an independently owned, London-based, wealth and asset manager with £4.1 billion in assets under management.
Ironwood Capital has made an investment in Directional Services (DSI), a utility-scale and specialty energy infrastructure contractor. This investment will support DSI’s continued focus on expanding its specialised renewable energy services offering, modernising its internal infrastructure, and build upon its superior team of dedicated professionals.
CareAcademy, a care enablement platform for home care and home health organisations, has raised $20 million in a strategic investment round led by Goldman Sachs Asset Management. MassMutual through the MM Catalyst Fund, Impact America Fund, Rethink Education, Unseen Capital, First Trust Capital Partners, LLC and prior investors also participated in the round.  The investment is part of Goldman Sachs’ One Million Black Women initiative, a $10 billion commitment to narrow opportunity gaps and impact the lives of Black women over the next decade. SilverAssist, led by seasoned digital media and technology executive, Greg Mason and financially backed by middle-market private equity firm Growth Catalyst Partners, has acquired AidandAttendance.com, a leading veterans benefits eligibility and web‐based application service. Aidandattendance.com is the first of its kind to develop software that simplifies the exceedingly complex application process, enabling families to seamlessly apply and secure additional income often months ahead of applying on their own.
Cube Infrastructure Managers (Cube), an independent European mid-market infrastructure investor, is to acquire a 78% stake in French temperature-controlled logistics operator Dispam on behalf of Cube Infrastructure Fund III, in partnership with Pascal Masse, Chairman of the company who has led its successful development over four decades and will retain a 22% stake. The closing of the transaction remains subject to customary antitrust clearance. Dispam is a multi-regional logistics provider in France, offering temperature-controlled transport solutions for fresh food produce.  Partnering with Dispam’s founder, Cube will apply its operational and financial expertise, as well as sector knowledge, to support the
Backbase, creator of the Engagement Banking Platform, has raised €120 million in growth equity funding from Motive Partners. Having grown organically to over €200 million in revenue, Backbase is now partnering with a Fintech specialist private equity firm, to further strengthen its claim on the Engagement Banking category.   This growth investment values Backbase at €2.5 billion.
Agilitas Energy, a developer, builder, owner and operator of distributed energy storage and solar PV systems in the northeastern US, has raised $350 million of equity in a two-tiered investment from funds managed by CarVal Investors. The investment will fund a national footprint build-out of Agilitas Energy’s large pipeline of renewable energy and battery storage systems.  The investment amount may be further upsized to $650 million upon the completion of certain projects. Funds managed by CarVal have assumed a minority position in Agilitas Energy and the companies have established a joint venture to own and operate the energy assets.
Elite German football body Deutsche Fussball is again exploring the possible involvement of private equity investors in media rights, according to a report by Bloomberg. The move comes just over a year after similar plans were dropped. The report says that a working party comprising Deutsche Fussball Liga’s Chief Executive Officer Donata Hopfen and senior figures from clubs including FC Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt is looking at whether the Budesliga would benefit from external PE investment.
