SUSI Partners has finalised the second closing for SETF, adding €144 million in investor commitments to expand the total fund size to €441 million.
The closing kicks off an ambitious fundraising year which is expected to see the firm’s total investor commitments cross the €2 billion mark.
The second SETF closing adds commitments from a diverse group of institutional investors, including several German institutionals, a Dutch foundation, and a sizeable investment from a Swedish pension fund. With further closings planned for 2022, SUSI is entering the final stretch of fundraising for the first vintage of SETF.
Some €700 million in private equity investments have been sold on the secondary market in April by Shell’s Dutch defined benefit (DB) pension scheme.
The sell-off came after the €33 billion scheme’s board decided its PE allocation had become to large having hit €4.1 billion at the end of 2021 following a 42.1% return over the year.

Fullerton Fund Management (Fullerton) has raised $100 million for its first Thai Private Equity strategy via KBank Private Banking.
1Sharpe Ventures, the proptech-focused, early stage investment vehicle grown out of 1Sharpe Capital, has closed its inaugural fund at $90 million.
The new fund, which was oversubscribed and marks the 12th total venture for founders Gregor Watson and Rob Bloemker, will focus on global investments in pre-seed to Series A-stage companies leveraging technology to improve the way people access, own and experience real estate.
The first 1Sharpe Ventures fund will make investments in 30-40 companies building technology to progress the real estate system, focusing on three categories.
FFL Partners (FFL), a private equity firm focused on growth investments in middle market companies, has held the final closing of FFL Capital Partners V, and related vehicles , with over $900 million in total capital commitments.
FFL closed the oversubscribed Fund V well above its $750 million target, raising the firm’s total AUM to $5.4 billion.
This is the first fund raised since Cas Schneller and Chris Harris were named Managing Partners of the firm.

Trivest Partners (Trivest) has closed Trivest Fund VII (Fund VII) and Trivest Discovery Fund II (Discovery II) with approximately $950 million and $600 million of total capital commitments (including Trivest commitments), respectively.
Both funds were oversubscribed and the fundraise for each fund was substantially completed in a single closing. Raised concurrently, Fund VII and Discovery II represent Trivest’s tenth and eleventh institutional private equity funds and bring Trivest assets under management to more than $4.0 billion.
Trivest provides “Private Equity for Founders” across the US and Canada.
Synthesis Capital (Synthesis), a global food technology and alternative protein investor, has launched Synthesis Capital Fund I with over $300 million in assets under management.
The oversubscribed Fund is anchored by private equity pioneer Jeremy Coller, through CPT Capital, with a cornerstone investment from Société Familiale d’Investissements.

A new £20 million fund, the ‘GMC Life Sciences Fund by Praetura’ has launched with the aim of bolstering Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Warrington’s flourishing life sciences sector.
The fund, raised by partners including Bruntwood SciTech, Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), will be deployed by Manchester-based Praetura Ventures.
The fund is aiming to support innovation and growing the region’s knowledge economy, creating more skilled jobs and helping businesses to expand internationally.
GMCA has committed £10 million to the fund, whilst Cheshire and Warrington LEP and Bruntwood SciTech have both committed £5
