Insurance M&A specialists from Carey Olsen have advised Arthur J Gallagher & Co's insurance management unit, Artex Risk Solutions, on its acquisition of two insurance management operations.  Artex, which specialises in captive management and alternative risk programs, has aquired Guernsey-domiciled Hexagon Insurance PCC Limited as well as the insurance division of Kane Group.  Hexagon was part of the Robus Group and provides cell company facilities to the insurance linked security (ILS) industry. Segulah V has acquired Hermes Medical Solutions AB from its founder Jan Bertling.  Hermes provides systems and software for integrating, visualising, processing and archiving imaging data from different modalities and vendors’ scanning devices within molecular imaging and radiology. Wine website Vinomofo has secured USD25 million in financing from Blue Sky Venture Capital to bolster rapid domestic growth and support operations in new markets. Vinomofo’s first capital raise coincides with the company’s fifth year in business and the roll out of a business ‘lite’ model offer into six new markets including; New Zealand, USA, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong and China. Palamon Capital Partners has completed a GBP20 million funding round alongside two co-investors for portfolio company Feelunique.com, a UK-based online retailer of premium beauty products.  Founded in 2005, Feelunique is a leading online retailer of premium products in haircare, skincare, cosmetics and fragrances, selling full-permissioned stock from all of the major brands including Chanel, Dior, Lancôme and Estee Lauder.  Palamon acquired the Company in December 2012 recognising the growth opportunity presented by the significantly underpenetrated online beauty retail sector.  Since then, Palamon has strengthened Feelunique’s market position by professionalising its management and investing in infrastructure, including moving the firm’s logistics
Origami Energy has raised a further GBP13.7 million from its existing shareholders, Cambridge Innovation Capital, Octopus Ventures and two private individuals, together with a new investment from Fred Olsen-related companies. Origami Energy has developed technology to monitor, communicate with and control a large distributed network of energy generating, energy using and energy storing assets connected to the electricity grid.  Based in Cambridge and London, Origami Energy intelligently manages the capacity and modifies the flows of power at physical sites of power generation, energy demand and electricity storage by providing a marketplace where the supply and demand of electricity is matched
Ogier partner Nicholas Plowman, with senior associate Richard Bennett in the firm’s Hong Kong office, has acted as British Virgin Islands counsel to All-Stars Investment Cayman Limited in relation to the establishment and offering of All-Stars XMI Limited as a private equity fund raising vehicle investing in a USD1.1 billion capital raising by Xiaomi Corporation by way of series F financing.
