The Riverside Company, a global private investor focused on the smaller end of the middle market, has promoted Jason Fulton to Partner at the Riverside Capital Appreciation Fund (RCAF). Fulton, who has worked for Riverside in the US and Australia, was previously a Principal at RCAF. Fulton has been an integral part of the leadership team on the firm’s recent investments in: Abracon, Clinical Education Alliance, HMI Glass, iCEV and Red Nucleus. The first HEC Paris – Dowjones MidMarket Buyout Performance Ranking, which has just been released, is a follow–up study to the already established, and informative HEC – DowJones Large Buyout Private Equity Performance Ranking which lists the world’s large Top Private Equity (PE) firms in terms of aggregate performance. With the new ranking, HEC Paris Professor Oliver Gottschalg, the study’s main author, wanted to address the lack of attention given to companies and investors targeting MidMarket firms which, according to the US Department of Commerce, are businesses with pre-tax earnings between USD5 million and USD250 million. Decentriq, a Swiss enterprise SaaS platform providing the most secure and compliant data clean rooms, has closed a USD15 million Series A funding round led by Eclipse Ventures. Lawyers from Carey Olsen’s corporate and investment funds practice in Jersey have acted for Falko Regional Aircraft Opportunities Fund LP and Falko Regional Aircraft Opportunities Fund II LP (the Jersey Funds) in relation to a proposed sale by affiliates of Fortress Investment Group LLC (Fortress) of Fortress’ equity interests in those funds to Chorus Aviation Inc (Chorus). The sale, which is valued at approximately USD855 million (including debt and cash assumed), includes Falko’s asset management platform and equity interests in 126 owned and managed regional aircraft. Cubico Sustainable Investments (Cubico), one of the world’s largest privately-owned renewable energy companies, has appointed David Swindin as its new CEO. Saphyre, Inc, a FinTech company that leverages patented AI technology to structure all pre-trade data while eliminating post-trade inefficiencies, has completed a USD18.7 million Series A round led by HCAP Partners.
