Global cloud-only digital transformation company Blue.cloud, has secured a majority equity investment at an enterprise value exceeding USD100 million from Hudson Hill Capital (HHC). In 2021, Blue.cloud scaled to a run-rate surpassing $39 million, reflecting 185 per cent growth YoY with a 30 per cent revenue increase from Q3 2021 to Q4 2021.  Blue.cloud specialises in implementing modern cloud data technologies and analytics to transform how enterprises operate and compete in the marketplace.
Glennmont Partners from Nuveen (Glennmont) has expanded its pipeline of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Central and Southern Spain with 161MW of additional capacity as part of an agreement with Grupotec, the Spanish developer and EPC contractor. The agreement is a continuation of Glennmont’s 473MW solar acquisition from Grupotec in September 2021 that will see their total solar PV capacity in Spain reach 634MW. Only the 473MW portfolio will be integrated into BNZ, Glennmont’s independent power producer (IPP) launched last year to develop solar across Southern Europe. Cybersecurity is expected to be the biggest challenge and opportunity facing technology, media and telecommunication (TMT) mergers and acquisitions professionals (M&A) in 2022, according to new research by Datasite. The SaaS-based technology provider for global dealmakers surveyed 200 senior UK M&A professionals comprised of CEOs to corporate development, banking, consulting, accounting, private equity and legal professionals.   More than half of UK CEOs (54 per cent) and 46 per cent of senior M&A professionals surveyed said that cybersecurity presents the best opportunity for TMT dealmaking over the next year, ahead of other sub-sectors, such as cloud technology and data analytics,

Thompson has an established private equity practice in London, where he has been advising on transactions in a variety of industries, including life sciences, energy, telecommunications, electronic payments, banking, finance and real estate, for the past 20 years. British Patient Capital has participated in the USD60 million Series B funding round of Paragraf, a Cambridge-based graphene-based electronics company. This investment is being made through British Patient Capital’s Future Fund: Breakthrough programme, a GBP375 million initiative where British Patient Capital co-invests alongside private sector investors in later stage R&D-intensive UK companies. Paragraf develops and delivers game-changing, commercial-quality, graphene-based electronic devices using contamination-free technology that is both scalable and compatible with existing electronic device manufacturing production processes.
Blue Horizon, a pure play impact investor in the future of food, has made its first investment in plant cell culture. Blue Horizon has invested in California Cultured, a Davis, California-based plant cell culture company pioneering a promising new application for cellular agriculture. Similar to cultivated meat, plant cell culture allows producers to grow complete, authentic cells in bioreactors rather than in fields or feedlots. As with previous years, this 2022 tax year fundraise closed ahead of schedule and was oversubscribed beyond its initial GBP50 million target, reflecting strong investor demand. McAfee Corp, a specialist in online protection, has been acquired by an investor group led by Advent International Corporation (Advent) and funds advised by Permira, Crosspoint Capital Partners (Crosspoint), Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), GIC Private Limited (GIC), and a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) (collectively, the Investor Group). Syndesi Therapeutics (Syndesi), a portfolio company of international life sciences investor Novo Holdings, has been acquired by AbbVie for up to USD1 billion in total deal value with USD130 million upfront. Syndesi was created in 2018 as the result of a close collaboration between Novo Seeds, the company creation arm of Novo Holdings, and UCB Pharma, the Belgium-based global pharmaceutical company.  The investment in Syndesi is an integral part of Novo Seeds’ approach to new venture formation by co-leading spinouts from pharmaceutical companies based on assets that are no longer in-line with the corporation’s overall strategy.
