Alternative credit specialist CIFC Asset Management’s philanthropic programme, the CLO Initiative for Change, has made its second annual donation.
In support of educating and empowering students to reach their full potential regardless of financial means, CIFC has partnered with the deal parties of its latest CLO, CIFC Funding 2022-II, including RBC Capital Markets, Appleby (Cayman) Ltd, Allen & Overy LLP, Milbank LLP, BNY Mellon, and Locke Lord LLP, to make a collective contribution of over USD225,000 to the TEAK Fellowship (TEAK). In addition to the financial contribution, CIFC team members will partner with TEAK to provide mentorship and/or educational support
The Blackstone Private Credit fund (BCRED) has reported a net return of 12.4 per cent since launch and an 8.5 per cent distribution yield for 2021, according to a report by Barron’s Online.
While the S&P 500 was down more than 5 per cent during the first month of 2022, and the Bloomberg US Aggregate Bond Index, was down more than 2 per cent, BCRED chalked up a return of almost 1 per cent.
Willkie Farr & Gallagher has appointed Joe Kaczorowski as a partner in the firm’s Corporate & Financial Services Department, where he will be part of Willkie’s leading Private Equity Practice Group.
Kaczorowski, who is based in Willkie’s Los Angeles office, was previously Special Counsel at Cooley LLP, and Assistant General Counsel at Platinum Equity. His arrival follows the addition of private equity partner Ray LaSoya, who joined Willkie’s Los Angeles office earlier in February.

The RMA Group of Companies (RMA), a portfolio company of OceanSound Partners, has acquired Coating Specialists and Inspection Services, dba CSI Services (CSI), a specialty coating inspection services business based.
Following the previously announced merger with Western Technologies (WT), the acquisition of CSI is RMA’s second transaction as it executes an acquisition-driven growth strategy to build a national test and inspection services platform for critical infrastructure end-markets.
Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Mercia Asset Management – one of the UK’s most active investors in early-stage tech companies and SMEs – has opened a new office in Bristol to help build its presence in the South West.
Mercia, which has been investing in the region for over ten years, will now have a dedicated team based in the city. Global law firm Mayer Brown has reported a record-breaking year for its UK private equity team after advising on 26 deals worth USD3.5 billion in 2021, a 25 per cent increase on the USD2.8 billion worth of deals it advised on in 2020.
This also represents a 65 per cent increase on the 16 deals it advised on the previous year as Mayer Brown’s UK private equity practice, led by Head of Private Equity Perry Yam, continues to grow.
The UK practice has also seen an increase in cross-border transactions in 2021, advising on deals in 22 countries compared

Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) has appointed Sandra Lau to the role of co-Chief Investment Officer, Head of Public Investments, and James Barber to the role of co-Chief Investment Officer, Head of Private Investments.
Lau and Barber succeed Dale MacMaster, who announced his retirement from AIMCo last October having served 23 years with the organisation, the last seven as Chief Investment Officer. The transition is effective March 1, 2022.
