Digital coach provider Sharpist has raised USD23 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Endeit Capital and Capnamic. Selected business angels, including the former VP of Workplace at Meta Julien Codorniou, French venture studio Founders Future, and Porsche Ventures, the venture capital unit of Sharpist’s customer Porsche AG, and existing investors Vorwerk Ventures and btov Partners, also participated. The fresh capital will enable Sharpist to further invest in its industry-defining product experience and accelerates the company’s European expansion.
Global alternative investment manager Wafra Inc has promoted Adel A Alderbas to Chief Investment Officer (CIO). Alderbas will work closely with Chief Executive Officer Fawaz Al-Mubaraki to oversee the firm’s investment activities and execute Wafra’s vision to deliver investment solutions that provide long-term prosperity for asset owners around the world. Alderbas is a 15-year veteran of Wafra, during which time he has overseen many of the firm’s key strategic and core investment initiatives, serving most recently as Deputy CIO. Are Partners-backed Repeats Group (Repeats), a pan-European plastics recycling platform focused on producing high-quality recycled low-density polyethylene (LDPE), has made an investment in Anviplas, a producer of recycled LDPE located in the Catalunya region of Spain. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.  Repeats is a portfolio company of Ara Partners (Ara), a global private equity firm focused on industrial decarbonisation.   Repeats’ investment in Anviplas represents an important step in building a pan-European plastics recycling platform. Under Repeats leadership, the Company plans to nearly double its production capacity to meet the growing demand for recycled LDPE in Europe.
OnePlanetCapital, the climate change-focused early stage venture capital fund, has appointed Anthony Chant as Investment Director. Chant will lead investment decisions for the company’s flagship EIS fund, targeting companies and projects that will genuinely benefit the environmental prospects of the UK and the wider planet. Chant has joined OnePlanetCapital to advise on targeted investments that will tackle C02 emissions as well as businesses with a positive environmental impact. ProArch, a digital transformation, modernisation and managed services business, has secured a USD25 million growth investment from MSouth Capital, an Atlanta-based private investment firm that provides flexible, non-control financing solutions. The debt and equity investment will enable ProArch to continue executing an aggressive growth strategy by fuelling the development of innovative offerings and expanding delivery capabilities to provide clients with exceptional solutions and customer experiences. ProArch will also look to expand inorganically through the acquisitions of other companies aligned with its philosophy and strategy.
Marinomed Biotech AG (VSE:MARI), an Austrian science-based biotech company with globally marketed therapeutics derived from proprietary technology platforms, has received the final EUR6 million tranche of its financing agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB). The agreement originally was signed in February 2019 for a total of EUR15 million. The loan is backed by a guarantee from the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI), the core of the Juncker Investment Plan for Europe, under which the EIB and the European Commission work together as strategic partners. Main Capital Partners (Main) has acquired a majority stake in InnoValor, the creator of ReadID, a global, mobile identity verification software provider using Near Field Communication technology (NFC). ReadID contributes to the improvement of safety within transactions and the reduction of fraud worldwide, using innovative verification technology which reads NFC-chips present in identity documents. It also allows ID cards and passports to be easily verified using a smartphone, for example during the onboarding process of new banking customers or at border control points. PriorAuthNow, a real-time prior authorisation network for providers and payors, has secured USD25 million in a funding round led by New York-based global venture capital and private equity firm Insight Partners. This latest investment brings PriorAuthNow’s total funding to more than USD57 million. With this newest funding, PriorAuthNow will further expand its network to reach both providers and payors looking to streamline the prior authorisation process. Databook, a specialist in consultative sales intelligence, today announced that it has secured USD50 million in an oversubscribed Series B round led by Bessemer Venture Partners. DFJ Growth and previous investors Threshold, Microsoft’s Venture Fund M12, Salesforce Ventures and Haystack also participated.  The funding will be used to accelerate hiring across all areas of the business and support growth into Europe and APAC including new industries such as banking, telecommunications, and consumer goods.
Astorg has held the closing of its first dedicated mid-cap fund (Astorg Mid-Cap) at EUR1.3 billion. Due to strong investor demand, the fund exceeded its initial target of EUR1 billion and hit its hard cap.
