Ares Management Corporation has completed its conversion to a corporation under Delaware law and changed its name from Ares Management to Ares Management Corporation. Since Ares had already elected to be taxed as a corporation for US federal and state income tax purposes effective 1 March 2018, no material tax or financial changes are expected from the state law conversion.   Existing common and preferred shares of Ares Management have been converted into Class A common and Series A Preferred shares of Ares Management Corporation, respectively. A business which has developed a better and safer X-ray technology has completed a GBP1 million funding round which will allow it to bring its systems to market. Hogan Lovells has advised Monzo, a UK digital, mobile-only bank, on its biggest ever crowdfunding round. Monzo has just published a prospectus in connection with a GBP20 million raise from its existing customers. Private investment firm Atar Capital has completed the acquisition of Microcel Corporation, a distributor of technology products in Canada, partnering with Rick Henry, Founder of Microcel. Henry will remain a shareholder and will continue as Microcel’s President and CEO. Hermes Investment Management, the USD46.9 billion manager, has appointed Nachu Chockalingam as Senior Emerging Market Debt Portfolio Manager. Based in London, Chockalingam reports into Fraser Lundie, Co-Head of Credit. She will help manage the performance and risk of existing emerging market allocations across all liquid credit strategies. This includes the Hermes Unconstrained Credit Fund, which was launched in May 2018 and has since raised USD386 million.
