Walker Precision Engineering, a high-precision component manufacturer, has secured a GBP4 million investment from BGF to expand its operations in the UK and mainland Europe.
From premises in Glasgow, Basildon and Poland, the family-owned business manufactures and assembles complex parts for the aerospace, defence and industrial sectors.
Founded in 1979, the company is run by brothers Gary and Mark Walker and employs more than 250 staff.

Automotive alliance Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi has launched Alliance Ventures, a new corporate venture capital fund that plans to invest up to USD1 billion to support open innovation over the next five years.
In its first year, the fund expects to invest up to USD200 million in start-ups and open innovation partnerships with technology entrepreneurs focused on new mobility, including vehicle electrification, autonomous systems, connectivity and artificial intelligence.

MidOcean Partners (MidOcean) has added David Kieselstein to the firm’s Executive Board, effective 1 January 2018.
Kieselstein is serving as Vice Chairman, Business Services, and will work with the firm’s Executive Board to provide strategic guidance to MidOcean’s portfolio companies. As Vice Chairman, Business Services, Kieselstein will also work closely with the MidOcean investment team in the sourcing, evaluation and execution of new business services investments.

High Road Capital Partners has completed the acquisition of U-C Coatings, a manufacturer and distributor of premier specialty coatings and sealants for the North American wood and lumber markets.
Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Burford Capital made USD1.3 billion in new investment commitments in 2017, more than triple its 2016 level.
