JTC Cayman acquisition bolsters fund administration capabilities
Institutional and private client service provider JTC has acquired Arcange REIM in Luxembourg, enabling it to launch a new AIFM management company (ManCo) business as it continues to enhance its range of European alternative fund services. The acquisition of Arcange REIM, which was one of the first Luxembourg based independent management companies to comply with the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD), was completed on 6 July following approval from the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF).   The new ManCo is called Global AIFM Solutions. Funds advised by private equity firm BC Partners and Canada’s Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) are to acquire a majority stake in Keter Group – a producer of resin consumer products – from its founders, the Sagol family. The transaction, which is subject to customary approvals and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2016, will see the Sagol family retain a minority stake and reinvest alongside BC Partners.   Headquartered in Israel, Keter designs, engineers, produces and distributes a wide range of consumer goods worldwide across multiple categories, such as indoor and outdoor furniture, home accessories,
Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical (Fosun Pharma), a Chinese healthcare provider, is to acquire an 86 per cent stake in Indian generic injectable pharmaceutical products company Gland Pharma for up to USD1.26 billion. The deal will see Fosun Pharma purchase all shares of Gland owned by KKR Floorline Investments in addition to shares purchased from other shareholders of the company.   PVN Raju, founder of Gland, and his son, Dr Ravi Penmetsa (pictured), will continue to be on the board, and Penmetsa will continue as managing director and CEO. G10 Capital, an affiliate of Lawson Conner, is to be appointed as an alternative investment fund manager (AIFM) by Gresham House Asset Management in order to provide alternative fund management services to LMS Capital. Private equity firms Aksìa Group and Alcedo are to sell Gimi, an Italian home care products provider, to FHCS (Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions), the German owner of several brands including Vileda, Wettex and Marigold. MUFG Investor Services, the global asset servicing group of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, is to acquire Guggenheim Investment’s 1940-Act mutual fund administration business, Rydex Fund Services.  The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2016, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

   When complete, the acquisition will provide MUFG Investor Services with a full service offering for investment managers, adding regulated 1940 Act mutual fund and exchange traded fund services expertise to its service proposition, which spans single manager, fund of hedge fund, private equity and real estate funds, pension funds and traditional asset managers.


The John Lewis Partnership has joined forces with TrueStart, a European retail and consumer accelerator and investment fund, to find and fund the products, services and technologies which it believes will define how we live in the future. Mubadala Development Company, the Abu Dhabi-based investment and development company, is to acquire a 20 per cent interest in alternative investments specialist Investcorp.
