The board of Woodford Patient Capital Trust has appointed Carolan Dobson and Alan Hodson as non-executive directors, both with immediate effect.
Dobson has a background in fund management and is an experienced non-executive director in public and private sector organisations, including a diverse portfolio of investment trust roles. She spent her executive career at Murray Johnstone, where she managed Murray Income and was a main board director, and later joined Abbey National Asset Management as head of UK.
In 2004, Dobson was appointed a non-executive director of Aberdeen Smaller Companies Income Trust, becoming chairman in 2011. In 2010, she
Petra Capital Partners, a private equity firm based in Nashville, Tennessee, has made a USD10 million growth capital investment in Austin, Texas-based BP3 Global, a provider of business process and decision management (BPM) software and services to the Fortune 500.
The investment will help BP3 speed up the development of its proprietary Brazos software platform, which collects data, surfaces actionable insights and then makes suggestions or changes to a customer’s business process. As part of the transaction, Petra general partner Rob Smith will join BP3’s board of directors.

Singaporean investment company Temasek has invested in Moncler, an Italian/French producer of luxury outerwear and apparel, via the acquisition of an equity stake in a newly incorporated investment company from Ruffini Partecipazioni.
The investment is Temasek’s first significant investment in an Italian company.
Established in 1952 in Grenoble, France, Moncler operates in over 70 countries throughout Italy, EMEA, Asia and the Americas through a network of mono-brand stores and luxury department and multi-brand stores.

Pulte Capital Partners has sold portfolio company Southern Air & Heat to MSouth Equity Partners, a private equity fund with USD1.3 billion under management across three funds.
Southern Air & Heat, based in the South-Eastern US, provides heating and air conditioning installation to the nation's largest homebuilders and is also a leading servicer and installer for over 70,000 homeowners across its South-Eastern target markets.

JZ Capital Partners (JZCP) has closed an investment in Oncology Services International (OSI), its third investment through the Jordan Health Products (JHP) platform.
JHP was formed in 2015 by Jordan Industries International (JII) and JZCP to develop and execute a strategic build-up in the highly fragmented US healthcare equipment market.
JZCP invested USD4.529 million in the transaction.

IK Investment Partners’ IK 2007 Fund is to sell Vemedia Group, a producer and distributor of over the counter (OTC) drugs, food supplements and medical devices, to an entity ultimately owned by Charterhouse Capital Partners.
Charterhouse also owns La Coopération Pharmaceutique (Cooper), a French OTC drug manufacturer and distributor. The parties have agreed not to disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
The combination of Vemedia and Cooper will create a European market leader in the OTC drugs sector. The two businesses are complementary and will be well positioned to lead the further consolidation of the European OTC drugs
Quantopian is to manage up to USD250 million of investment capital for Steve Cohen’s venture capital operation Point72 Ventures.
Quantopian offers a free platform where an online community of over 85,000 members from 180 countries can create institutional-quality investment algorithms.
Investment algorithms created on Quantopian’s platform by members will be used to manage the funds from Cohen. Each author of a selected algorithm will receive a royalty based on the performance of his or her strategy.

JetBlue Technology Ventures, the venture capital subsidiary of JetBlue, has invested in Mozio, a San Francisco based tech start-up specialising in providing ground transportation solutions to and from airports.
It is the second investment by JetBlue Technology Ventures, which launched in February with the goal of finding and developing businesses that sit at the intersection of technology, travel and hospitality.

A team of Hogan Lovells lawyers has advised the senior executive management team of VocaLink on its sale to MasterCard for approximately GBP700 million (USD920 million).
Hogan Lovells’ role involved advising VocaLink's senior management on their management incentive arrangements and their position and related matters, including warranties and disclosures. Under the agreement, a majority of VocaLink’s shareholders will retain 7.6 per cent ownership for at least three years.

Portuguese venture capital firm Portugal Ventures has now committed a minimum of EUR50,000 to the company. eSolidar’s founder Marco Barbosa says he is confident of reaching the GBP200,000 target by the end of August.
