New York private equity fund Monomoy Capital Partners has added Jordan Matusow to its team. Matusow will focus on sourcing Monomoy’s investments in the debt securities of distressed and underperforming businesses that can benefit from operational, financial and strategic improvement. Matusow has over 10 years of broad experience in financial services and the capital markets. Private equity firm NorthEdge Capital has added to its team with the appointment of Harry Jones (pictured) as an Investment Executive in its Manchester office. The Ontario Government, University of Toronto, and MaRS Discovery District (MaRS) has teamed up with with Janssen Inc to launch the Johnson & Johnson Innovation, JLABS incubator model in Toronto. The Cayman-based Restructuring and Corporate Recovery team at Kinetic Partners will now do business under the brand name of Duff & Phelps following its acquisition earlier this year.  In January 2015, Duff & Phelps acquired Kinetic Partners and created a dedicated Compliance and Regulatory Consulting Practice. Maven Capital Partners (Maven) and Albion Ventures (Albion), have sold their investment in Lab M Holdings, a developer, manufacturer and supplier of microbiological culture media and diagnostic systems, to Neogen Corporation. Lancashire-based Lab M is a leading provider of microbial testing and diagnostic products servicing the global food, water, industrial and clinical testing markets.  Employing some 35 staff at its accredited facility in Heywood, Greater Manchester, the company’s wide range of dehydrated culture media is routinely used in microbiology laboratories around the world for food industry testing.    The original Lab M investment was made by Quester VCT Plc and
Silverfleet Capital, in conjunction with mergermarket, has published the findings of its European Buy & Build Monitor for H1 2015. The Buy & Build Monitor tracks global add-on activity undertaken by European headquartered companies backed by private equity. A total of 143 add-ons were reported in H1 2015 compared to 169 in H2 2014, which has now been upwardly revised to 202 as further data for smaller Buy & Build transactions usually emerges after the publication date. Based on experience, the number of deals in H1 2015 is therefore very likely to also be revised upwards in the next report.

Guernsey has extended market access to EU Alternative Investment Fund Managers (AIFMs) and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) doing business in Guernsey. The move follows the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA)’s advice to the European Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament that the EU Alternative Investment Fund Management Directive (AIFMD) passport should be extended to Guernsey.   Guernsey’s Government, the States of Guernsey, has now amended its Investor Protection regulations for AIFMs and AIFs based in EU Member States that have fully implemented AIFMD in order to enable easier movement between Guernsey and EU markets.   Guernsey’s Chief
