Latin America focused New York law firm Schwartz has hired M&A and corporate deal lawyer Zachary S. Klughaupt as counsel, bolstering its Latin American capital markets practice.
Klughaupt, who is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, will divide his time between São Paulo and New York.

Mountain Real Estate Capital has closed a joint venture with Davidson Communities, a real estate company in California.
The joint venture purchased The Sentinels at Del Sur subdivision located in San Diego, California from Bank of America.
The project consists of 17 substantially finished lots and four fully completed and furnished model homes that have been upgraded with a number of options.
The Del Sur community is an 1,800-acre master plan community that will eventually comprise approximately 3,000 single-family and multifamily residences and community amenities.

InstaMed, a healthcare payments network, has raised USD6m in growth capital.
This round of funding included both debt and equity capital and came from existing InstaMed investors who with this round have invested USD22m to date.
InstaMed investors include Osage Partners, Ashby Point Capital, NJTC Venture Fund, US Bank, and a private equity group in Newport Beach, California.
The private equity group in Newport Beach, California, which includes eight high-net worth families from Southern California, contributed the largest amount of capital, both as a part of this funding and since InstaMed’s inception.
Osage Partners contributed USD1.3m in this funding.

Prime Technology Ventures, a pan-European venture capital firm, has led a USD13m round of new funding in Cint, the company behind the SaaS-based marketplace for market research sample Cint Panel Exchange.
Existing owners such as Nordic venture capital firm Creandum also participated in the funding.
Cint is headquartered in Stockholm and provides market researchers with fully automated access to panels of four million profiled individuals across 40 countries. In 2008 Cint opened offices in US, Canada, Spain, Denmark and Russia. During 2009 and 2010 additional offices were opened in UK, Germany and the Netherlands.
Funds will be used to expand
DN Capital, a media and technology early stage and growth capital investor, has led an investment in windeln.de, a baby care specialty website which will launch in September 2010.
German venture capital firm High-Tech Gründerfonds also took part in the investment, and the financing round was complemented by business angels and members of the management team.
Users of windeln.de will be able to buy diapering products as well as baby food and formula, bath and skin care products and a large product range around feeding and nursing. The site will also offer many products needed during pregnancy and breast
Private equity firm StepStone Group has hired Weichou Su as managing director in the firm’s new Beijing, China office, which officially opened on 14 September.
Su will focus on the firm’s investment activities in China and throughout Asia.
StepStone has had a presence in China for several years and the new office solidifies the firm’s commitment to the region.
StepStone Group works with institutional investors to build portfolios that include private equity fund investments, co-investments and secondary investments.

Invesco has appointed Henry Robin as a managing director in its fund of funds team.
Robin will be based in Invesco’s New York office where he will join founding partner Phil Shaw as co-head of the private equity fund of funds business.
