Private equity investment manager Ares Management Corporation has partnered with Mubadala Investment Company, Abu Dhabi’s global sovereign investor, to form a joint venture that will invest around $1 billion in global credit secondaries opportunities.
French private equity investment firm Ardian has begun exploring a possible bid to take INWIT, an Italian-based telecoms tower operator, private at a market value of around €11 billion, according to a report by Reuters. Unnamed Reuters sources say that Ardian, which is the INWIT’s second largest shareholder with a stake of around 30% behind European tower company Vantage Towers AG (33%), is working with advisers at JPMorgan Chase & Co on a potential offer. Toshiba Corp’s board has accepted a $15 billion buyout offer from a consortium of investors led by Tokyo-based private equity firm Japan Industrial Partners, according to a report by the Nikkei Business Daily.

Citigroup Inc has appointed Robin Rousseau and Barry Weir as co-heads of the company’s mergers and acquisitions business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, according to a report by Bloomberg, with the pair replacing Alison Harding-Jones who is leaving the business. Ethos Capital has appointed Jim Miller, who previously served in senior executive roles at Amazon, Cisco, Google, and Wayfair, as the firm’s newest Executive Partner.  Ethos says Miller’s role will be to help mid-stage companies scale their operations through “hyper-growth” phases.  Miller’s appointment takes the number of executive partners who work exclusively with Ethos to provide portfolio companies with sector-specific expertise to enhance operations and accelerate growth, to 17.  
JMI Equity, a growth equity firm focused on investing in software companies, has closed the JMI Equity Fund XI, and JMI XI Executive Fund, with total commitments of $2.4 billion. The fund was oversubscribed, with demand exceeding the original $2 billion target.
Virgin Orbit HQ
Virgin Orbit Holdings, Richard Branson’s struggling small satellite launch and services business, is close to agreeing a deal for $200 million in much needed investment from Texas-based venture capital investor Matthew Brown, according to a report by Reuters.
General Atlantic, a global growth equity investor, is anchoring a $179 million equity investment in Gravie, a US-based employer health benefits company, alongside participation from existing Gravie investors FirstMark Capital and AXA Venture Partners. Gravie plans to use the capital to funds growth through investments in all areas of the company, including expanding its flagship Comfort health plan for small and medium-sized businesses, which offers comprehensive coverage of all essential benefits. Gravie currently provides health benefits to the employees and families of more than 1,200 companies nationwide.    The investment is expected to close within 30 days, subject to regulatory
