Alpha FX Group has appointed Nick Maton as Managing Director, Luxembourg. Maton has over 30 years’ experience in financial services, including managing and growing businesses in the Luxembourg markets, which is an area of strategic importance for the Group. He joins Alpha with an in-depth knowledge of the alternative investment sector alongside his traditional banking experience. Initially Maton will focus on building and developing commercial partnerships across the alternative investment sector in Luxembourg for the provision of Alpha FX Group’s alternative banking solutions, whilst also supporting its application with Luxembourg’s financial regulator, the CSSF (‘Commision de Surveillance du Secteur Financier’).
Bernhard Capital Partners (BCP), a services and infrastructure-focused private equity management firm investing in middle market businesses providing essential services to owners of critical infrastructure, has made five promotions. Mark Spender has been promoted to Partner, Catherine Cusimano, Bryan Poppler, and Chris Ringswald to Principal, and Jason Badeaux to Senior Associate.
Victor Capital Partners, a sector-specialist private equity firm investing in branded specialty consumer, industrial, and business services businesses, has appointed Matt McLain as its third Investment Partner. McLain has extensive experience at the intersection of branded industrial and consumer strategies that will bolster the firm’s differentiated investing and operating approach.   McLain brings more than 17 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, and strategy and financial consulting. He has led middle market investments across a variety of specialty industries core to the focus at Victor Capital. BTIG has appointed Mikhail Keyserman, CMT, CFTe, has a Managing Director in the firm’s Healthcare Investment Banking division. In his new role as MD and biotechnology specialist, Keyserman will focus on identifying investment banking and capital markets opportunities across the biotech industry. He will be based out of the firm’s New York office and report directly to KC Stone, Managing Director, Head of BTIG Healthcare Investment Banking. Prior to his new role with the firm, Keyserman served as a Managing Director and Senior Healthcare Strategy and Franchise Sales Specialist at BTIG.
Sverica Capital Management, a growth-oriented private equity firm focused on the lower middle market, has promoted Michael Dougherty to Principal and Doug Patrican to Vice President. Dougherty joined Sverica’s San Francisco office in 2012 and has over nine years of private equity experience. He focuses on sourcing and evaluating new investments, transaction execution, and portfolio company operations for technology, technology services and software companies.  Patrican joined Sverica’s Boston office in 2020 and focuses on sourcing and managing healthcare investments. With six years of private equity experience, He is graduate of Boston College with a degree in economics.
Private equity firm Palatine has announced a raft of promotions reflecting the team’s contribution over the past 12 months, which saw record levels of investment and exit activity. Richard Thomas, who leads Palatine’s Midlands office and Business Services sector, and James Gregson who was one of the first people the firm recruited to support its pioneering Impact Fund have been appointed as Partners.   Thomas, who recently led the partial sale of CET Group with the sale of its tech-enabled insurance claims management division to HomeServe plc for GBP53 million, and was heavily involved in the investment of global leading
Circularity Capital, a specialist private equity firm supporting growth stage European SMEs in the circular economy, has appointed Nicola Keen as Operating Principal. Joining Circularity Capital from PA Consulting, Keen brings a wealth of experience in technology and innovation consultancy with a strong focus on supporting the growth and innovation of circular businesses. Prior to PA Consulting, Keen held roles at CommonVC, Schlumberger and Mpac Langen.
ECI Partners, a growth-focused mid-market private equity firm, has made five promotions across its Investment, Origination and Commercial Teams. This news comes following a strong 2021 performance, delivering multiple successful exits throughout the year. Rory Nath and Isa Maidan have been promoted to Investment Directors within the Investment Team, while Rich Pearce has been promoted to Investment Director within the Commercial Team.  In the Origination Team, Hamish Paget-Brown has been promoted from Analyst to Associate.
Vala Capital, an entrepreneur-led venture capital firm, has appointed Lian Michelson, a successful entrepreneur and experienced angel investor, as investment director for its EIS portfolios. The appointment comes as Vala launches a new tranche for its Sustainable Growth EIS portfolio – targeting small companies focused on sustainable solutions.   Michelson has more than a decade of experience of early stage investing, supporting founding teams with business development, strategy and fundraising. Marathon Asset Management (Marathon), a New York-based global investment advisor overseeing approximately USD23 billion in assets across private and public global credit markets, has promoted Christine Chartouni, Marathon’s Chief Legal Officer and Chief Compliance Officer, to Partner. Chartouni has been with Marathon since 2004 and serves on Marathon’s Executive and Governance Committees.
