Levine Leichtman Capital Partners (LLCP), a Los Angeles-based private equity firm, has appointed Matthias Tabbert as a Managing Director, responsible for establishing and managing its newly opened office in Frankfurt, Germany. Tabbert will lead LLCP’s Structured Private Equity origination and investing efforts in the DACH region. Tabbert is joining as a member of the Firm’s global Originations Group. He will direct the sourcing of new investment opportunities, as well as participate in due diligence and work with our local management teams post-transaction. Apex Group Ltd (Apex), a global financial services provider, has appointed Barry O’Brien as Senior Director, Business Development. Based in Apex’s Dublin office, O’Brien reports to John Bohan, Co-Founder and Country Head Business Development (Ireland) who he will be working with to drive the firm’s continued growth in Ireland, a key hub for the Group.   O’Brien brings over 27 years of experience working in fund solutions business development and joins Apex from US Bank Global Fund Services where he was most recently Director, Business Development. Partners Capital Investment Group has promoted five senior executives, including three new Partners and two new Managing Directors, as well as three new senior hires.
Mid-market private equity firm LDC has appointed Chris Handy and David Bains to lead its West Midlands and East Midlands teams respectively, replacing Richard Whitwell when he retires from LDC in March. The promotions are part of LDC’s plans to expand its presence and support for mid-market businesses across the region and follow a strong year in which the firm completed 20 transactions in the Midlands with a combined value of more than GBP1.6 billion in 2021.
Global law firm Goodwin has continued to build out its private equity platform in Germany with the hire of partner Florian Hirschmann. Hirschmann, who is resident in Munich on a remote basis, advises clients primarily on complex, cross-border private equity, M&A and venture capital transactions, as well as joint ventures. Victory Hill Capital Advisors LLP (Victory Hill), manager of the cGBP250 million VH Sustainable Energy Opportunities plc fund listed on the London Stock Exchange, has appointed Eleanor Fraser-Smith as Vice President and Head of Sustainability and Jean Yeo as Vice President, Senior Finance Manager. In addition to the new appointments, Victory Hill is also opening its newly refurbished London office located at 4 Albemarle Street, London W1S 4GA.  As Head of Sustainability, Fraser-Smith will be responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s sustainability strategy, as well as environmental, social and governance reporting and engagement.  Yeo meanwhile will assume responsibility for
Maven 11 Capital, an Amsterdam-founded blockchain and crypto asset investment firm, has appointed Martijn van Veen as a partner and director for its asset management business, effective 1 January of this year. Van Veen brings over two decades of trading and fund management experience and has held several senior roles in portfolio management and business development, including positions at hedge funds and investment boutique Dasym. Van Veen will lead Maven 11’s development as an asset manager in digital assets with products like open-end funds, managed accounts and others. 
Alantra, an independent global mid-market investment banking and asset management firm, has recruited a Maritime and Offshore investment banking team within its Investment Banking division. The new Maritime and Offshore team comprises four members, including two managing partners: George Giannakis and Nicholas Petrakakos. HSBC Asset Management (HSBC AM) has appointed Marco Montanari as Global Capability Head, ETF & Indexing, effective 11 January 2022, subject to regulatory approval. Based in Hong Kong, Montanari reports to Guillaume Rabault, Chief Investment Officer, Quant Equities.
