SV Health Investors, the venture capital and growth equity firm, has promoted Michael Balmuth to Managing Partner from Partner, and Houman Ashrafian to Partner from Venture Partner and Entrepreneur in Residence.
SV manages seven funds that aim to support entrepreneurs and companies that create breakthrough treatments and healthcare solutions. The firm has a multi-sector focus; it invests in early-stage opportunities in biotechnology; early-stage and revenue-stage opportunities in medical devices; and growth equity opportunities with healthcare services and digital health companies.

AXON Partners expands its team with the addition of a new senior professional, Vincent de Boursetty, as a Principal in the firm’s Swiss office in Zug.
De Boursetty has 12 years of corporate finance and private equity experience. Prior to joining AXON, Partners he worked at London‐based corporate finance advisory firm Ondra Partners where he was in charge of a variety of M&A and capital markets advisory mandates for large cap and private equity clients. VincDe Boursettyent started his career at Société Générale as an investment banker.

Aurelius Equity Opportunities SE & Co has added Peter Wood to its UK team, with immediate effect. Wood joins Aurelius as a Principal, based in the London office, working as part of the investment team to source and execute investments in businesses that would benefit from the long-term strategic direction and financial and operational support that Aurelius provides.
Wood’s appointment builds on a series of hires for the UK business in 2017, including that of Andrew Roth and Thomas Pinks to Aurelius’ investment team. With
Edge Investments, a specialist investment house focused on the creative industries sector, has added to its team with the appointment of two specialist investment professionals – Niall Santamaria and Joshua Burge.
Santamaria joins Edge from Exodus Ventures, a specialist firm within the high-growth, early-phase digital media sector. A holder of the CFA charter and with an MBA from the London Business School, Niall has served as an investor, board member, strategic advisor and corporate finance advisor during a decade in venture capital.
Burge, with an MSc in Economic and Social History from All Souls College, Oxford joins Edge from Kerdos Ventures, an early-stage technology investor.
FPE Capital (FPE), a growth private equity investor in UK lower mid-market companies, has appointed Connor Trendell as Investment Manager.
Trendell, who joins FPE Capital from Deloitte, where he was a member of the firm’s TMT M&A Advisory team, is FPE Capital’s second appointment following the final close of FPE Fund II. He is a fully qualified ACA and graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MA (Hons) in Economics.
The appointment marks a further step in the development of the FPE Capital investment team as it continues its focus on the lower end of the UK mid-market,

Boston-based investment firm Berkshire Partners has appointed Blake Gottesman and Sam Spirn as Managing Directors effective 1 January, 2018. They join the 22 current Managing Directors of Berkshire in managing the firm and its affiliated investment funds.
The firm’s 24 Managing Directors have an average tenure of 17 years with the firm.
Gottesman originally joined Berkshire in 2007 as a Summer Associate and returned to Berkshire in 2009 after graduating from business school. Gottesman has extensive experience with Berkshire’s consumer products and retail, communications, and industrial companies. Prior to joining Berkshire, Gottesman served as Deputy Chief of Staff at the
Willkie Farr & Gallagher has appointed Brant K Brown ,an associate general counsel at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc. (FINRA), as counsel in the firm’s Washington office.
Brown’s hire is the latest regulatory addition to the firm’s Washington office in recent months, following former Chairman (and Director of the Office of Enforcement) of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Norman C. Bay and former Acting General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel for the Department of the Treasury Priya R. Aiyar, who joined the firm in September.
