New Sparta Asset Management (NSAM), a specialist emerging market investment manager established by Dr Jerome Booth, has made three senior hires at New Sparta Energy (NSE), a fully owned subsidiary which specialises in the identification, development, construction and operation of power projects in Africa, with a focus on renewable energy.
Its role is to advise NSAM on the management of the underlying assets and implementation of the investment strategy.

Capital Risks Limited (Capital Risks), a newly formed Transaction Liability Insurance Managing General Agency (MGA), has appointed Alex Smith as Underwriting Director.
Smith will be joining on 1st August 2017, as soon as he completes his notice period. With a first-class law degree and corporate finance experience, for the past four years Alex has served as an underwriter within AIG’s UK Mergers & Acquisitions Team.
Capital Risks was launched on 12 June 2017 and provides Transaction Liability Insurance for small and medium sized deals, which are currently underserved in the market.

Local has over ten years of corporate finance experience providing independent advice on acquisitions, disposals and fundraisings. Local joins from Livingstone Partners where he was a Director in the Business Services team, and has previously worked at UBS and EY. Estera, a provider of offshore fiduciary and administration services, has appointed Brad Stephenson (pictured), as team manager for the company’s Cayman Islands fund services business.
In his new role, Stephenson oversees Estera Cayman’s fund offering, including fund directorships and related fiduciary services to Cayman corporate structures.
Stephenson, who has more than a decade of experience in the Cayman funds industry, previously served as a business development manager within a provider of specialised trust and fund administration services. He has extensive experience offering guidance on a range of corporate structures and has overseen the day-to-day management of funds in markets
Pharos Capital Group, a physician-founded healthcare private equity firm based in Dallas and Nashville, has promoted Anna Kovalkova to Partner, effective immediately. Kovalkova is based in the firm’s Nashville office and was most recently a Principal.
Concurrently, the firm promoted three Senior Financial Analysts to Associates. They are Lauren Gurley and Kevin Ryan, based in Nashville, and Jim Kerrigan in Dallas.

KL Outdoor-GSC, a New Water Capital portfolio company, has named Charles L “Chuck” Smith as its chief executive officer.
The company, believed to be the world’s largest manufacturer of paddle sports equipment, was created by the April 2017 merger of recreational products makers KL Outdoor and GSC/Future Beach.

Prestige Capital Management Limited (PCM), the AIFMD-licensed Malta arm of the Prestige group of companies, has expanded its Malta-based operation with the appointment of Dario Inclimona as junior portfolio manager to its growing team.
Inclimona will be working alongside Jonathan Scott (pictured), who joined PCM as Chief Operations Officer in November 2016, and will be looking after day to day fund investment portfolio operations.
This is part of PCM’s increasing role as the day to day operations and reporting centre for the range of Prestige Funds.
