International law firm Hogan Lovells is adding M&A partners Richard Climan, Keith Flaum and Jane Ross, and IP and technology transactions partner John Brockland to its global corporate team. Climan and Flaum will join the global leadership teams within Hogan Lovells’ corporate practice.   Climan, Flaum, Ross and Brockland have worked together for nearly 20 years. Over that period, the team has handled some of the most significant transactions in the technology and life sciences sectors, having worked with companies such as Adobe, Ant Financial, Applied Materials, eBay, Facebook, Gilead Sciences, Intel, Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Oracle, Qorvo and Synopsys.   The
Campbell Lutyens, a global alternative asset advisory firm focused on fund placement and secondary advisory, has expanded its secondary advisory practice with three new appointments. Annabelle Judd has joined as a senior vice president in London, Bon-Jay Tseng as a vice president in New York and Ana Dicu as a senior associate in London.   These latest appointments take the global secondary advisory team to 27 and the total team at Campbell Lutyens to over 100.   Judd joins Campbell Lutyens after 10 years at Rothschild advising on M&A transactions most recently focusing on consumer products, retail & leisure sectors.

Independent trust, fund and corporate services provider Crestbridge has established a presence in the GCC following its acquisition of Ohad Trust, a Bahrain-based trust, fund and corporate services provider in Manama. With regulatory consent having now been received from the Central Bank of Bahrain, Ohad has become part of the Crestbridge Group, which also has complementary offices in Jersey, London, Luxembourg and the Cayman Islands.    A full rebranding of Ohad is planned for later in 2017 to bring the business fully under the Crestbridge brand.   Ohad was the first licensed provider of trust services in Bahrain when in
ISG Technology, a portfolio company of private equity firm WestBridge Capital, has appointed Jonathan McKay as non-executive chairman. McKay has a strong background in strategic development, sales, marketing and general management, gained in the technology sector.   He is currently chairman at JustGiving, the UK’s largest online fundraising platform; La Fosse Associates; Driftrock; Cambridge Broadband; and Forward Partners. He is also an advisory board member of Ventech China.   Prior to these appointments, McKay had a successful career in high growth software companies, including Sun Microsystems where he worked both in the UK and the US. NVM Private Equity has strengthened its investment team with two investment associate hires, Victoria Howarth and Jason Warren.   These appointments continue the growth in the investment team over the last 12 months following on from the recruitment of Charlie Winward in 2016.    Howarth and Warren will both be responsible for transacting new early-stage and technology focused private equity investments and the expansion at NVM will provide support as the firm pursues a broader investment strategy.   Howarth, who is based at NVM’s Manchester office, joins from IBM Global Business Services where she spent five years as a senior business
Orrick has appointed Gabriel Monzon-Cortarelli as a partner in its M&A and private equity practice, resident in Milan. He will also spend significant time in Orrick’s New York office.   Monzon-Cortarell is the sixth partner to join Orrick’s European M&A practice in the past year. He joins the firm from Seyfarth Shaw where he led the Italian desk.   At Orrick, Monzon-Cortarell will lead a team of Orrick bilingual US and Italian lawyers —based in the firm’s Milan office and offices throughout the US — focused on assisting Italian businesses looking to enter or expand their presence in the US
Investec Specialist Bank has appointed Conor McMahon to its corporate and acquisition finance team, led by Callum Bell, head of corporate and acquisition finance at Investec. Based in the team’s London office, McMahon will play a key role in the origination and execution of leveraged finance and private debt solutions for clients across Europe.   In his previous role as vice-president in the Bank of Ireland’s global acquisition finance team, McMahon worked on a range of debt financing deals ranging from GBP7 million to GBP200 million EBITDA across leverage buy out transactions, acquisitions, refinancings, dividend recapitalisations and public-to-privates.   Since
Accountancy firm Saffery Champness has appointed Donald Forsyth as a partner based in the firm’s Inverness office, with effect from 1 April. Forsyth was most recently managing partner at EY’s Inverness office. Greg Carter, founder of SME finance platform Growth Street, has replaced James Sherwin-Smith as chief executive officer. The appointment of Carter – who has been Growth Street’s chief risk officer since its launch – represents a return to the company’s original founder.   Carter founded Growth Street while working at Arts Alliance, the venture capital investors in Graze, Shazam and Lovefilm, before appointing Sherwin-Smith as CEO to launch the company in 2015.   Carter says: “I would like to thank James for all the hard work he put in over the last two years in growing Growth Street.
