Neuberger Berman has appointed Kent Chen as Managing Director and leader of the firm's private equity efforts in the Asia Pacific region. In this newly-created role based in Hong Kong, Chen will advise local clients and lead the firm's regional efforts investing in global private equity across a wide spectrum of strategies. Raphael Weiner has joined Munich-based venture capital firm Target Partners as an associate. Weiner will support the team in handling all tasks related to startup investments, from deal flow to the investment process right through to portfolio management. In 2009, Weiner became one of the first employees at Scoreloop, a mobile social gaming platform funded by Target Partners. LBO France has appointed Sophie Chateau as Managing Director within the Investor Relations team, which will now be made up of six members. Since 2011, Chateau served as Associate Director at Weinberg Capital Partners, with responsibility for investor relations across all activities. In this role, she also oversaw the fund-raising process for both private equity and real estate activities. Chateau brings with her over 15 years of investment experience. Having begun her career in 1995 in M&A with UBS in Paris, before continuing in London, she joined Chevrillon Candover (1998), subsequently Chevrillon & Associés (2001), an independent private equity firm.

Sun European Partners has made two senior hires in Europe.  Andreas Bösenberg has joined as Managing Director of the Frankfurt office and Michael Palm as Managing Director of Sun’s new Swedish office in Stockholm, supporting the firm’s continued expansion in the region.   Bösenberg joins from VTB Capital where he spent nearly five years as Deputy Head of Private Equity and Special Situations. Prior to this, he was Co-founder and Managing Director of Brockhaus Private Equity in Frankfurt. Mercia Fund Management (MFM) has appointed Dr Nicola Broughton (pictured), a Leeds-based consultant specialising in the commercialisation of Intellectual Property, as an Investment Director and Head of Technology Transfer. Broughton will be growing a team to help support Mercia’s university partners in their areas of geographical focus – the Midlands, North and Scotland. The African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (AVCA) has appointed Hurley Doddy, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Emerging Capital Partners as Chair. Runa Alam, Co-Founding Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Development Partners International, is stepping down after four years in the role.
