Middle market private equity firm GI Partners has appointed Travis Pearson as managing director.
Pearson will work broadly across the GI portfolio to drive key operational initiatives and pursue new investment opportunities.
Pearson joins GI after 15 years at Bain & Company, where he served clients in technology, media, telecommunications, consumer and retail, and private equity. Pearson held several leadership roles at Bain, most recently serving as the regional practice leader for technology in the Americas.

Robert K Steel has joined investment advisory and asset management firm Perella Weinberg Partners as chief executive officer, with effect from 7 July 2014.
Joseph Perella will continue in an active role as chairman, while co-founders Terry Meguid and Peter Weinberg will remain in their roles as co-head of asset management and head of advisory, respectively.
Steel’s (pictured) career of almost 40 years in financial services includes both public and private sector experience. Most recently he was New York City’s Deputy Mayor for Economic Development under Mayor Michael Bloomberg, where he spearheaded the administration’s major redevelopment projects.
As
Canvas Venture Fund, an early-stage venture capital firm formed in August 2013 with its USD175 million inaugural fund, has appointed Paul Hsiao as a general partner and founding managing member.
Hsiao is a seasoned entrepreneur, operator and venture investor. He spent the last 10 years at New Enterprise Associates (NEA), a global investment firm with USD14 billion in assets under management, where he was best known for his domain expertise in partnering with entrepreneurs building successful enterprise software and marketplace companies. Some of these investments include Houzz, Gaikai, Boingo, Elance-oDesk, SayMedia, and 42Floors.
Hsiao also brings a diverse set
Asset management firm Vida Capital has named Bill Tice as senior managing director, head of marketing and investor relations.
Tice joins Vida with 15 years of marketing and business development experience, most recently as a managing director at Siguler Guff & Company, an USD11 billion private equity firm based in New York.
At Siguler Guff, Tice had a primary focus on relationship management and fundraising in North America, Europe, and Latin America, with an emphasis on distressed and special situation investment strategies, real estate, and emerging markets.

Chris Wade, a veteran entrepreneur and the UK Trade and Investment’s (UKTI) adviser on venture capital, is to join the ventures team at Octopus as strategic adviser.
In this new role, Wade will be working with the ventures team, and its portfolio companies, looking to break into Asian markets.
Wade is currently an adviser to UKTI on venture capital matters. This follows two years as the director of the UKTI’s venture capital unit, where he was responsible for advising the government on the role of international investment in the UK’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
He is also a partner at
Alternative investment and private securities marketplace FNEX has appointed Chris Nelson as the company’s chief technology officer.
In this role he will oversee overall company operations, systems and platform development.
Nelson brings over 18 years of experience in technology. He joins FNEX from Delivra where he was director of operations, growing the company’s top line more than five times without incurring any debt, and spent many years in the role of director of information technology.
Prior to Delivra, Nelson held multiple roles at T2 Systems, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance and served as Airborne Communications Operator for the
Ogier Fiduciary Services in Jersey has promoted Charles Le Cornu to director and appointed two new directors, Simon King and Jon Barratt, to the funds and real estate teams respectively.
Le Cornu joined Ogier in 2006 and has 10 years’ experience in the offshore financial services industry specialising in investment fund accounting and administration. He has particular experience with private equity, venture capital and mezzanine funds. Prior to joining Ogier in 2006, Le Cornu trained with KPMG and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
King joins the funds team from State Street
Steven Novick has left Crescent Capital Group to start a new retail business based in London, according to his LinkedIn page.
Until April Novick was a managing director at Crescent and head of Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific business development and investor relations for the credit investment firm, based in Los Angeles.
He also co-founded Crescent's first non US-focused credit fund, known as Crescent European Specialty Lending. The fund has a target of EUR500 million.
Novick joined the firm in 2011 and over the last two years raised almost USD1 billion in capital from investors across Europe, Middle
Zeus Capital has appointed Dan Bate as a director of corporate finance.
Bate joins Zeus Capital from AIM quoted corporate broking and private wealth management business WH Ireland, where he was head of corporate finance in Manchester and group company secretary.
During his seven years with the business he advised on all areas of corporate finance, including AIM IPOs, fundraisings and general M&A.
A qualified solicitor, Bate previously worked for Halliwells as a senior corporate lawyer specialising in public company advisory.

Alternative investment specialist Advanced Capital has appointed statesman and politician Ambassador Joseph DeTrani as a senior advisor.
A leading figure in US politics and foreign affairs, DeTrani (pictured) is president of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance and Professor at Missouri State University.
DeTrani’s most recent assignments include senior advisor to the Director of National Intelligence and director of the National Counter Proliferation Center.
DeTrani spent considerable time in North Korea as DNI mission manager and special envoy for Six-Party Talks negotiations, ranking as Ambassador and US representative.
