Evercore intends to expand its global investment banking platform by establishing a private capital advisory (PCA) business focused on secondary transactions for private funds interests.
This initiative expands the services that Evercore offers to institutional investors and fund sponsors, and complements the capital raising advisory services provided by Evercore’s private funds group and the strategic and merger advisory services offered by Evercore’s advisory business.
Nigel Dawn and Nicolas Lanel have agreed to join Evercore to lead the business. Dawn will run PCA globally while Lanel will head up the European operation.
Dawn, who was most recently managing
Stonehaven, a placement agent focused on hedge funds, private equity, real estate, venture capital, private placements and long-only strategies, has added two key personnel to its senior team.
Mark Sullivan, as a managing director and partner, and will work closely with Stonehaven’s chief executive to spearhead origination and ongoing management of mandates while also playing a senior management role.
Igor Gourari has also joined the Stonehaven team as the firm’s controller. He will spearhead all financial and accounting functions within the firm while also playing a senior operations role.

Independent fund administration company Apex Fund Services has appointed Gordon Shaw as chief operating officer of the Apex Group.
Shaw (pictured) was previously global head of banking and custody within the Credit Suisse alternative funds business. Prior to this, he was group chief operating officer at Fortis Prime Fund Solutions where he had responsibility for over USD100bn of assets under administration. Whilst at Fortis, Shaw worked in a number of senior positions in multiple locations in the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Scott Kamran is joining Evercore’s investment banking business as a senior managing director in the firm’s technology group.
Kamran will be based in Evercore’s office in the Bay Area and will focus on advising companies in the software sector, as well as in the broader technology industry.
Kamran was most recently a managing director and co-head of global software investment banking at BofA Merrill Lynch. With over 17 years of experience at BofA Merrill Lynch, Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers, Kamran has extensive experience advising a broad array of software companies and private equity firms, including advising Teradata
Joe Truelove has been appointed as a director of Carey Group’s fund administration business.
He leaves Kleinwort Benson after 12 years, most recently as head of business development for the fund administration business.
Truelove (pictured) is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a qualified trust and estate practitioner and has degree in French and Hispanic Studies (Latin American) from the University of Aberdeen.
He trained with Coopers and Lybrand (now PwC) where he qualified as a chartered accountant while working in the audit and business assurance team.
At Carey Group
Venture capital firm Greycroft Partners has added a new partner – John Hilton – to the firm’s investment team.
Hilton will be based in the New York office along with managing partner and founder Alan Patricof and partner and co-founder Ian Sigalow.
Dana Settle, co-founder and partner, and recently added partner Mark Terbeek will continue to head up the LA Greycroft office.
Hilton draws on years of experience as a partner with iNovia Capital, where he concentrated on investments in digital media, ecommerce, enterprise software, and financial software sectors, which will continue to be his focus. He
Brian Silver has joined Perella Weinberg Partners as a partner in the firm’s advisory business with a focus on clients in the healthcare sector.
Silver has approximately 20 years of investment banking and corporate legal experience. He was most recently a managing director in Morgan Stanley’s healthcare investment banking group, where he advised a broad range of biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical services clients on mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, the equity and debt capital markets, and royalty financing.
During his tenure at Morgan Stanley, Silver advised on a number of significant transactions, including Mylan’s USD1.6bn acquisition of Agila
Donald T Pascal has been promoted to president of Commonfund Capital, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Commonfund focused on private equity, venture capital and natural resources investing that has managed more than USD13.5bn in committed capital since inception.
Pascal succeeds Susan J Carter as president. Carter will retain her role as chief executive officer of Commonfund Capital with overall strategic leadership of the group. She will continue to be actively engaged with investors and managers.

Private equity firm CVC Capital Partners has appointed Duco Sickinghe to its Benelux advisory board and TMT advisory board.
Sickinghe (pictured) will assume both roles on 1 September 2013.
Sickinghe, a Dutch national, was most recently the chief executive officer of Telenet, a provider of cable broadband services in Belgium, a position he had held since 2001. In his time at the helm of Telenet, he oversaw the listing of the company on the Euronext stock exchange in 2006, and he was voted best CEO of a listed Belgian company in 2011, 2012 and 2013, in a Thomson
Marie-Claire Fudge has joined Mourant Ozannes as counsel and head of funds in the British Virgin Islands.
Fudge (pictured) has extensive experience in structuring, setting up and launching open and closed ended BVI investment funds and providing ongoing advice to investment funds and their managers.
She has a regulatory practice which compliments her investment funds practice and regularly advises broker dealers and other market participants on the BVI’s investment business laws.
Fudge also has significant industry knowledge in all aspects of BVI corporate law, including public and private mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and listings and joint venture
