Heritage International Fund Managers (Malta) has appointed Nicholas Warren as head of office.
Locally educated at St Edward’s College and the University of Malta, Warren will be responsible for the client service delivery and day to day operations as well as assisting with business development initiatives and growing the business in Malta.
Warren has worked in the financial services industry since 2004 initially with Deloitte & Touche in Luxembourg moving on to take a role within the regulatory unit of the Malta Financial Services Authority.

Carlos M Bermudez, partner, in the firm’s corporate practice in Los Angeles. Sidley Austin has appointed Michael J O’Brien as a partner in its New York office.
O’Brien will be a member of the firm’s M&A and private equity group.
O’Brien focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and joint venture transactions. For over 30 years, O’Brien has provided strategic counsel to clients including private equity firms and financial institutions on both public and private investment transactions. He has also represented public and private companies in domestic and international joint ventures, financing transactions and corporate and securities matters. Jersey Finance has appointed Richard Corrigan as global head of business development.
In this new role, he will assume responsibility for the international offices of Jersey Finance in Abu Dhabi, India and Hong Kong whilst retaining a personal focus on extending the profile of Jersey’s finance industry in the UK, Europe and Russia.
Corrigan (pictured) joins Jersey Finance from the banking sector where he has held senior roles with Barclays Wealth and Royal Bank of Scotland International in a number of financial centres, most recently as director for Barclays Wealth in Jersey.

The Abraaj Group, a private equity investor operating in global growth markets, has appointed Sarah Alexander as a managing director.
Alexander (pictured) joins the group from the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA), where she currently serves as president and chief executive officer.
In her new role, Alexander will serve The Abraaj Group’s North American stakeholders providing them with fresh perspectives on global growth markets and drawing on Abraaj’s local presence in 30 of the world’s fastest-growing economies. She will assume her new role with the group in February.

Per Strömberg, chief executive of Nordic retailer ICA, is to join the board of Segulah Advisor.
Strömberg (pictured) has been an industrial adviser to Segulah since 2009.
In addition, Christian Tegenmark has been promoted to junior partner. Tegenmark joined Segulah Advisor in 2004 from PwC.
Marcus Planting-Bergloo has also been promoted to junior partner. Planting-Bergloo joined Segulah Advisor in 2007 from management consultants Occam Associates.
Finally Linda Wikholm, who joined Segulah Advisor in 2003, has been promoted to accountant.
Private equity firm Warburg Pincus has appointed Janet Vergis as an executive-in-residence, a role which will see her support the firm in the identification and evaluation of investment opportunities in the biopharmaceutical sector, particularly in the US.
Vergis (pictured) joins Warburg Pincus with 25 years of pharmaceutical experience and a strong track record of growing businesses.
Most recently, Vergis served as the chief executive officer of OraPharma, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on oral health, where she led the successful turnaround and subsequent sale of the company to Valeant Pharmaceuticals.

LBO France has appointed Vincent Briançon as director for the White Knight funds, a series of LBO funds investing in companies with an enterprise value ranging from EUR100m to EUR2bn.
Briançcon’s appointment strengthens the White Knight investment and portfolio management team, which now has 14 professionals. LBO France counts 50 employees.
Briançon, 40, spent 14 years with Bridgepoint Capital, first in London and, since 2000, in Paris. He was promoted to partner in April 2008. A recognised private equity professional, he has focused on healthcare and consumer goods transactions including Medica, Medipole, Nocibé, Afflelou and Histoire d’Or. During this

Veronis Suhler Stevenson (VSS) founding partner and president John Suhler retired from the private investment firm at the end of 2012.
Suhler (pictured), who is 69 years old and co-founded Veronis Suhler Stevenson in 1981, has been named chairman emeritus and will continue, along with other VSS partners, to represent VSS at communications industry events.
