Joey T Shabot has joined the law firm Greenberg Traurig as of counsel in its Tel Aviv office.
Shabot, the fourth attorney in recent months to move to Greenberg Traurig in Israel, focuses his practice on M&A, financing, and other corporate transactions.
He previously practiced with the New York firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz where he began his legal career in 2005, and just concluded one year as a visiting corporate attorney with the law firm of Meitar Liquornik Geva & Leshem Brandwein in Tel Aviv.

Archer joins from Bridges Ventures.

Actis, the pan-emerging markets private equity firm, has appointed James Smith as director in the firm’s value creation group.
Smith will be based in the Johannesburg office and takes up his post with immediate effect.
Smith will work with Actis portfolio companies in Africa, seeking to add value by driving strategic and operational improvements. Smith has previous experience of working with Actis in his role as chief executive and co-founder of consulting firm Burlington Strategy Advisors.
Smith began his career at Palabora Mining Company before moving to Bain & Company in 1998.

Philippe Berteaux has joined Marvell as a full equity partner to launch a new insolvency and financial restructuring practice.
In 2007 Berteaux founded his own boutique firm, relying on an experience of more than 15 years in the corporate recovery sector, having started his career with experts such as Jean-Louis Borloo and Maurice Lantourne.
Berteaux has advised on restructuring and insolvency issues in a wide range of sectors, both debtor and creditor side, with a particular focus on complex cross-border insolvency matters and company voluntary arrangements.
More recently, he has developed an in-depth understanding of private equity issues and assisted
Ludgate Investments, a private equity investor in resource efficiency businesses, has appointed Bernard Bulkin and Ekaterina Sharashidze as non-executive directors with immediate effect.
Both Bulkin and Sharashidze (pictured) will serve on Ludgate’s investment committee and join a team which has raised and deployed over GBP75m in 25 growth companies over the last decade, including GBP51m by Ludgate Environmental Fund, since its launch in 2007.
Bulkin comes to Ludgate Investments after a career spanning both corporate and investment roles in energy and resources. He is currently senior adviser at Vantage Point Capital Partners, a role he has held since 2004
CDC Group plc, the UK’s development finance institution, has made a series of new appointments designed to strengthen its investment teams and enable the company to start to implement its new strategy.
Holger Rothenbusch has been appointed as Managing Director of the new Debt and Structured Finance Team and starts on 3rd September. Holger rejoins CDC having previously worked at DEG, the German development finance institution. At DEG, Holger was Senior Vice President Asia & Europe, responsible for a portfolio of equity, debt and mezzanine investments of more than EUR2.5bn. Prior to DEG he worked at CDC as Head of
Energy Investors Funds (EIF), a private equity firm focused on the independent power and electric utility industry, has appointed Lydia Blandy as an associate in the firm’s San Francisco office.
Blandy, who was previously a member of the investor relations department of Ironwood Capital Management, has a BA from Dartmouth College.

Lawrence M Chu has joined Goodwin Procter’s business law department in its Silicon Valley office as a member of Goodwin’s technology companies, M&A/corporate governance and private equity practices.
He will focus on mergers and acquisitions, dispositions and corporate finance transactions in the technology, internet, digital media, financial technology, e-commerce and biotech industries, and will help to lead the growth of the technology M&A practice on the West Coast.
Chu joins Goodwin from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in San Francisco where he was a partner.
