Evercore Partners Inc has expanded its Private Funds Group, which provides independent advisory services on capital raising and placement to select alternative asset managers, with the appointment of senior distribution professionals in the US and Asia.
The Private Funds Group has completed its US distribution team following the appointment of Christopher Brand as a Managing Director, and subject to regulatory approval, will initiate its expansion into Asia with the hire of William Lee.
Brand will be based in Evercore’s San Francisco office where he will be responsible for managing the group’s relationships with institutional investors on the West Coast. Lee
Perella Weinberg Partners today announced that William Parkerson has joined the Firm as a Managing Director in its Corporate Advisory Group. Based in New York, Parkerson, who has nearly 20 years of investment banking experience, will focus on providing strategic and financial advice to clients in the global chemicals sector.
Parkerson was previously Managing Director and Head of Chemicals Investment Banking at Jefferies & Company. Prior to that, he was with Bank of America for five years, last serving as Managing Director and Global Head of Chemicals Investment Banking, and he was with Goldman Sachs for four years, serving as
Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets has promoted Chris Birt to director in its Acquisition Finance team in London, reporting to Ian Sale.
Birt, 33, has eight years of experience at Lloyds Banking Group after joining the Corporate Banking graduate scheme and has held his current position since 2006.
During this time, Birt has led and co-led 20 private equity-backed mid market transactions, including providing leveraged debt to support Sovereign Capital’s recent acquisition of IMS Consulting Group and Lyceum Capital’s GBP17 million investment in Compact Media. In his new role, he will continue sourcing and executing deals.

Private equity firm Avista Capital Partners has hired Charles McIlvaine, former Global Co-Head of the Consumer Group for the investment banking division of Deutsche Bank, to focus on the firm’s investment opportunities in the consumer sector.
In addition, McIlvaine will serve as a director of Armored AutoGroup, an Avista portfolio company comprised primarily of the Armor All and STP automotive aftermarket brands.

Sidley Austin LLP has appointed Ted Kamman as a partner in New York in the firm’s M&A and private equity practice. Kamma, who has more than 17 years of experience working on international deals under the laws of more than 22 different countries, focuses on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and securities offerings.
In addition to advising Asian and European acquirers on strategic transactions, Kamman has, over the course of his career, represented most of the major investment banks. He has represented buyers, sellers and target companies in public tender offers, as well as privately negotiated M&A deals.

Marc Nahum has joined the Investor Development Group of private equity investor Actis as Distribution Director for Europe and the Middle East, based in London.
The Investor Development Group, led by Actis Partner Jonathon Bond, manages relations with Actis’s 118 investors, as well as potential new partners.

Swiss private equity investors Corestate has appointed Phillip Burns, formerly a Financial Managing Director at Terra Firma Capital Partners, as Chief Executive Officer.
Burns will join in mid-February and primarily will be based at Corestate’s HQ in Zug, but will split his time between each of the firm’s partner offices in London, Frankfurt and Luxembourg.

ARC China, an investment manager based in Shanghai, China, has appointed Dan Loeb, Founder and CEO of Catavate Group, as Senior Operating Advisor for the firm’s ARC Westly China Fund.
Loeb and Catavate will assist with due diligence on potential investee companies and will provide ongoing strategic and operational advice to the fund’s portfolio companies and valuation and other support to ARC China, the fund’s manager.
