For the second consecutive year, NYSE Euronext raised more proceeds from initial public offerings (IPOs) than any other global exchange group in 2012 with USD36bn in total global proceeds raised from 117 IPOs.
In the US, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NYSE MKT combined led the market with 79 IPOs and 16 transfers. In Europe, NYSE Euronext welcomed 25 new listings, with approximately EUR2.7bn (USD3.5bn) in proceeds raised.

Nomura has launched the Nomura QES Modelled Private Equity Returns Index (PERI) in the US, the first daily investible index for institutional investors which targets returns similar to those achieved through investment in private equity buyout funds on a committed capital basis.
The PERI has been developed in collaboration with sub-adviser and quantitative think tank Quantitative Equity Strategies (QES) and uses data provided by Preqin.

Shares in the AIM-quoted investment group China Private Equity Investments (CPE) can now be traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
They have been included on the Quotation Board of the Exchange’s Open Market following meetings with German investors during the summer to discuss growing interest in the company in Germany.
It is anticipated that the Frankfurt listing may encourage regular trading by German retail investors, enhancing liquidity in the company’s shares on both the Frankfurt and AIM markets.

Interdealer broker ICAP has made a series A investment in Model Two Zero, a company specialising in matching, reconciliation and data transformation software.
This investment follows an earlier investment by Euclid Opportunities, ICAP’s vehicle for funding next-generation financial technology.
Model Two Zero will use the funding to launch a next generation reconciliation service built upon the company’s matching and data-translation technologies. The hosted service uses algorithms to reduce the time and cost involved in setting up reconciliations, improving operational risk controls, efficiency and flexibility across the industry.

Shares in Uganda’s electricity distributor, Actis-backed Umeme, have begun trading on the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE).
Uganda’s Vice President, Hon Edward Ssekandi rang the bell on the IPO at a special event at the Kampala Sheraton, to which the USE had relocated for the day.
The stock closed at a weighted average price of Ugandan shillings 275, unchanged on the offer price.

Cherwell Software will use the growth capital to accelerate growth of its channel sales programme globally and to build additional applications and services to broaden the capabilities of its IT Services Management (ITSM) platform.
