Mobile data optimisation company Snappli has received a significant injection of capital from its founding team of entrepreneurs.
In addition, Snappli has now secured a further USD1m investment from Greylock Partners, Index Ventures and Klaus Hommels, the early investor in Skype, Facebook and Spotify.
The Snappli app compresses, optimises and secures mobile internet data. Snappli reduces data use by up to 85 per cent and accelerates mobile browsing by up to two times. It is also the first app on the market that offers video compression, a major mobile data drain.

Lyceum Capital-backed Access Group, a business software provider, has acquired French-based business intelligence specialist Prelytis for EUR4m.
The acquisition, which marks the first of a series of moves by Access into the software as a service (SaaS) marketplace, is the company’s sixth bolt-on since Lyceum Capital backed a GBP50m buyout of the group in March last year to support its long-term growth strategy. The secondary market, where investors historically went to trade their illiquid holdings in hedge funds, private equity and other alternative investments, is increasingly a source of liquidity in normal times and not just an escape hatch for investors in duress, according to a recent survey of more than 489 institutional investors managing gross assets of USD417bn.
The survey indicates that, while USD65bn worth of secondary stakes are now traded annually, this market is expected to grow 125 per cent within the next year, to USD146bn.

LDC has provided follow-on funding to support portfolio business Kirona Group’s acquisition of Xmbrace, a provider of scheduling software to the UK social housing sector.
