Yugabyte, a specialist in open source distributed SQL databases, has closed USD188 million in an oversubscribed Series C funding round.
The round, led by Sapphire Ventures, includes participation from Alkeon Capital, Meritech Capital, and Wells Fargo Strategic Capital, as well as existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners, 8VC, Dell Technologies Capital, Wipro Ventures, and others. Sapphire President Jai Das also joins the Yugabyte Board of Directors. The round, which comes seven months after its previous round, brings the company’s total funding to over USD290 million and values Yugabyte at more than USD1.3 billion.

3i Group (3i) has agreed the sale of its investment in Magnitude Software, a provider of data management software solutions, with offices in the US, the Netherlands, UK, Canada and India, to insightsoftware, Inc.
Proceeds to 3i are estimated to be cGBP344 million/USD477 million, which represents a c100 per cent uplift on its 30 June 2021 valuation. This sale represents a 2.6x multiple of invested capital and an IRR of 47 per cent. 3i will make a co-investment of cUSD50 million into insightsoftware.

Consulting company Silicom and e-learning SaaS platform Seela have announced their merger to create Pr0ph3cy Group (Pr0ph3cy), a provider of IT and cybersecurity services in France.
Pr0ph3cy will serve large private groups and government agencies to provide solutions for their critical security needs and will offer an e-learning platform aimed at upskilling or reskilling IT, network and cyber professionals.

Filipino social entertainment platform Kumu has raised a Series C led by General Atlantic, a global growth equity firm with more than 40 years of experience scaling disruptive businesses internationally. Existing investors Openspace and SIG also participated.
This transaction marks the largest equity financing to date for a Filipino startup not founded as a subsidiary or spinoff of an established conglomerate. It also marks General Atlantic’s first investment in the Philippines.
