Browne Jacobson’s private equity team has advised independent private equity and infrastructure investment manager Foresight Group (Foresight) on its exit from e-commerce fulfilment specialist, Selazar Limited (Selazar), generating a 3.4x return for the Midland Engine Investment Fund (MEIF) managed by Foresight after less than two years. The Browne Jacobson team was led by Midlands-based associate Matt Bolton, who also advised Foresight on MEIF’s initial and follow-on investments in Selazar in 2019 and 2020 (respectively), supported by Birmingham-based private equity partner, Gareth Davies.  The exit is the first for MEIF, which was launched by the UK Government-owned British Business Bank (BBB)

British Patient Capital has made a EUR25 million commitment to the Nauta Tech Invest V Fund, as Nauta Capital announces its final close at EUR190 million.  Investing from late seed and Series A, the fund has already invested in 11 companies in verticals including Fintech, Insurtech, Retailtech, and Open Source, among others.   Nauta Capital specialises in capital-efficient early-stage B2B software companies. The firm’s main areas of interest include SaaS solutions with strong network effects, vertically focused enterprise tech with the potential to transform large industries as well as those leveraging deeptech applications to solve challenges faced by large enterprises.
Aura Biosciences, a portfolio company of Spanish biotechnology venture capital firm Ysios Capital, has priced its initial public offering (IPO) and is trading on the Nasdaq Global Market (NASDAQ: AURA).

Global investment firm Carlyle has acquired a majority stake in CSS AG (CSS), a German business software provider with a focus on accounting, controlling and human resources (HR) software. Majority shareholder Michael Friemel will retain a large minority stake in CSS and will continue to lead the company as CEO.
