New research by Capita Asset Services shows a dramatic uplift in the capital raised on London’s Alternative investment Market (AIM), with the amount generated by new listings and cash calls in 2014 at its highest level in four years.
Since AIM was established in June 1995, companies (excluding investment vehicles) have raised a collective GBP79.5bn, GBP31.0bn in initial public offerings, and GBP48.5bn in rights issues.

Magma Fincorp has approved the preferential allotment of equity shares worth INR5 billion (~USD80 million) to a clutch of investors including KKR, Indium V and LeapFrog Investments (LeapFrog).
The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Indium and LeapFrog, both new investors in the company, will invest INR 2.2 billion and INR 2.0 billion, respectively. KKR, which first invested in Magma in 2011, will inject an additional INR 0.8 billion.
Magma will use the new capital to grow its business and capture opportunities created by India’s economic growth and improving financial markets.

Novan Therapeutics has secured USD50 million in an oversubscribed private financing led by new investor Malin Corporation with strong participation from Novan’s existing private investors throughout the Research Triangle area of North Carolina.
The round closed 27 March, 2015 at USD50 million, including an August 2014 initial filing of USD10.3 million.

Claranet, the European managed services provider, has signed a refinancing agreement, securing a long-term facility for the company.

Mutafchieva joins Palamon from McKinsey & Company where she was an Engagement Manager in the firm’s Antwerp office. She was with McKinsey for five years and latterly she specialised in leading strategy development and commercial transformation projects on behalf of companies in the financial services sector. Ms Mutafchieva graduated from the London School of Economics with a First Class Honours in International Relations and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Node4, a regional data centre, managed IT and communications specialist, has completed the acquisition of Reconnix, a leading open source technology services company, for an undisclosed sum.
The deal, which was transacted with support from leading private equity provider LDC, represents the second acquisition to be completed by Node4 since LDC backed the business in May 2013.

Sanne, a Jersey headquartered provider of corporate and fund administration, is proceeding with an Initial Public Offering (‘IPO’) and placing of shares on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange.
The offer is expected to raise more than GBP140m following strong interest from institutional investors across the UK. Admission to trade on the London Stock Exchange’s main market for listed securities is expected to take place at 8.00am on 1 April 2015 under the ticker SNN.
The offer price has been set at 200 pence per Offer Share which equates to a market capitalisation of GBP232m on admission.

A report from Cebile Capital, a placement agent and adviser in the private equity sector, finds that European family offices have increased their allocation to private equity compared with five years ago.
The firm found that private equity now represents nearly a quarter of the average portfolio of European family offices, mostly in venture capital, compared with an allocation that was sub 15 per cent five years ago.
Cebile Capital’s report analyses the appetite and preferences that family offices have for private equity investments and outlines the steps GPs should take when targeting family offices as investment partners.
Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) has agreed to acquire the principal holdings of Competitive Power Ventures (CPV).
The transaction includes equity interests in a portfolio of power generation projects, as well as CPV's development and asset management platforms. CPV's management team will continue to lead the business and develop value-added investment opportunities in the US power sector.
The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2015.
