Mayfair Equity Partners (Mayfair), a dedicated consumer and technology investor with over £1 billion in assets under management, is backing the management buyout of Garolla, a UK-based, end-to-end provider of roller garage doors. Mayfair will hold a majority stake in the business. Additional deal terms have not been disclosed.   Founded in 2017 by David Wilkinson and Graeme Pogue, Garolla began with a single franchisee supplying roller garage doors in Harrogate, UK. Praetura Ventures has closed its latest EIS Growth Fund taking the total raise by the firm in the last three years to £100 million. UK Food and Beverage M&A market activity in T1 2022 (January – April) saw a dip in the volume of deals compared to the prior year period but a c85% dip in the value of deals as big deals were absent in the period. Modulr, an embedded payments platform for digital businesses, has raised $108 million (£83 million) in a series C funding round led by General Atlantic, a leading global growth equity firm. The round also included significant participation from existing investors including Blenheim Chalcot, Frog Capital, Highland Europe, and PayPal Ventures.   Modulr’s technology enables businesses to build payments directly into their own platforms without needing to build complicated payment systems, become regulated themselves or manage the complexities of payment network membership.
