Morrison & Foerster has appointed Sean Ruff (pictured) as of counsel and co-head of the firm’s FinTech Practice Group.
Ruff’s practice focuses on advising clients in the rapidly growing FinTech sector, including emerging and established FinTech organisations encompassing both non-bank and traditional banking institutions, with respect to complex regulatory and transactional matters. Ruff will lead the FinTech Practice Group, along with Obrea Poindexter and Eric McCrath.
Ruff is rejoining the firm from Square, a leading FinTech payments company, where he served as Director, Lead Payments and Regulatory Counsel. He has particular experience with funds transmission and related compliance matters, Bank Secrecy
Guernsey-based Advocates Elaine Gray, Natasha Kapp and Tony Lane have been promoted to partners at offshore law firm Carey Olsen, bringing the firm’s total partner number to 45 across the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Jersey.
Gray joined the firm's litigation and dispute resolution practice as counsel in 2012. She advises local and international clients on commercial litigation, employment and intellectual property matters and is recognised as a leading voice in employment, IP and complex trust disputes.
Kapp joined the fiduciary practice as a senior associate in 2009. She deals with all aspects of fiduciary law and regulation
Kevin M Cronin (pictured), a law enforcement agent and former Homeland Security professional, has joined the Mackinac Partners as Managing Director in the Business Intelligence and Corporate Security Practice.
Cronin, who has considerable investigative experience working with government agencies such as the FBI and DEA on both domestic and cross border operations, has also served as a Police Sergeant, an undercover agent, President of private security consulting firm Executive Security and Protection Inc., as well as a Special Agent for the Department of Homeland Security.

Natural Gas Partners (NGP), a private equity firm in the natural resources industry, has appointed Patrick McWilliams as a Managing Director in the firm’s Houston office.
McWilliams was previously a Managing Director with JP Morgan Chase in its Houston office. He joined the firm in 2012 to launch its Middle Market Oil and Gas Finance (MMOG) platform, focused on providing debt capital and other financial services to private oil and gas companies. In his role McWilliams also covered top regional, energy-focused private equity firms.

Madison Capital Funding, a middle-market focused company providing financing solutions to private equity clients, has appointed Jon Leisinger as a director and head of Mezzanine Credit.
Leisinger will be responsible for the management of Madison Capital’s mezzanine capabilities.
Leisinger joins Madison Capital from Sankaty Advisors, the credit affiliate of Bain Capital, where he was an executive vice president responsible for mezzanine deal origination, credit evaluation, execution and portfolio management. Leisinger received his BBA in Finance from the University of Notre Dame.

Mid-market private equity firm LDC has hired three senior corporate finance professionals to its UK-wide direct origination team as it gears up to invest GBP1.2 billion of equity over the next three years.
Jimmy Morris, previously with Grant Thornton’s advisory business, joins LDC’s London team. His experience includes senior business development roles at 3i Group and Directorbank Group, the executive search and selection firm.
Gillian Sharman joins LDC’s Manchester office, following roles with advisory firms BDO LLP, Altium and Zeus, and Zara Lane joins LDC’s Leeds office from Grant Thornton.
The expansion creates a six-strong deal origination team
Chris Fowler has joined CVC Credit Partners as a Managing Director in the Private Debt team, led by Tom Newberry, Partner. Fowler will be based in London and will report to Neale Broadhead, Managing Director and Portfolio Manager.
In this new role, he will be responsible for investments in CVC Credit’s European mid-market lending strategies.

Alliance Tire Group (ATG) has joined KKR’s Green Portfolio Program (GPP), an operational improvement program that uses an environmental lens to assess critical business activities of KKR’s participating private equity portfolio companies.
ATG is a global tire maker that specialises in producing off-highway tires and caters primarily to the agricultural, forestry and construction industries.
ATG’s entrance into the GPP enhances its existing sustainability efforts which have been an area of focus since ATG’s inception.
