New York Life Capital Partners, the private equity arm of New York Life Investments, has appointed Alan Weinfeld as managing director and head of business development.
In this newly created position, Weinfeld will be responsible for managing and coordinating fund marketing and capital raising activities of the firm.

Matrix Group, the privately owned UK financial services business, has appointed Paul Bramley as chief operating officer for its asset management division.
Bramley has over 20 years’ experience in financial services, including chief financial officer and chief operating officer roles in investment banking and asset management.
He has significant experience of building out the financial and operational infrastructure for growth businesses.
Bramley qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen and subsequently worked at NatWest Markets, Kidder, Peabody and Merrill Lynch International in senior finance, treasury and operations roles.
Bramley is also a former chief financial officer of two
RCP Advisors, a private equity fund of funds sponsor focused on North American lower middle market buyouts, has hired David McCoy as a principal and portfolio manager of RCPDirect, a co-investment fund sponsored by RCP Advisors.
McCoy leads the firm’s co-investment functions including sourcing, due diligence and portfolio management.
Mark Sawyer and Michael Allietta also recently joined RCP Advisors’ co-investment team as investment analysts.

Junior mining company Sandspring Resources has appointed Scott Issel as chief financial officer.
Issel joined Sandspring in May 2009 as the controller of GoldHeart Investment, a subsidiary company of Sandspring and owner of the original Toroparu gold-copper project in Guyana, South America through a Guyanese operating company, ETK.
He assisted in the reverse takeover transaction of Sandspring which served as the company’s qualifying transaction for listing on the TSX Venture Exchange.
Most recently Issel served as controller of Sandspring Resources and has helped ensure a smooth transition to the public capital markets.
Carmelo Marrelli has resigned as chief financial officer
Octopus Investments has hired Simon Andrews into its ventures division.
Andrews will work alongside Simon Murdoch and Alex Macpherson to manage and develop the portfolio which includes Zoopla, True Knowledge and Prismastar.
After more than ten years working as an equity analyst and in M&A across Europe, Andrews’ most recent role at Silicon Valley Bank saw him specialise in venture debt and debt financing of mostly life science and technology companies, in both early and later stages of development.
Previous notable investments with which Andrews has been involved include glassesdirect.com, clearswift.com and adeptra.com.

Private equity firm Riverside is expanding its efforts to invest in clean technology companies as the firm anticipates strong growth in alternative energy and energy efficiency markets.
Riverside has hired associate Evelyne White to explore opportunities within the cleantech sector.
White works with Riverside’s local origination and transaction teams to build institutional knowledge in the sector, as well as to identify, evaluate and execute investments in the space.

Private equity firm Pomona Capital has hired Sebastien Bowen in London team as an investment director to focus on secondary investment analysis and deal sourcing in Europe.
Bowen has over eight years of primary and secondary fund investing experience.
Prior to joining Pomona Capital, he was a director at MetLife Investments and was previously at Axa Private Equity in London where he spent most of his career.
Bowen joined Axa Private Equity in 2002 where he focused predominantly on primary and secondary private equity opportunities in Europe.

Carey Olsen has appointed advocate Christopher Anderson as a corporate partner in the Guernsey office.
Anderson, who has significant experience in investment funds, insurance and reinsurance and protected and incorporated cell companies, will work in the firm’s corporate and finance team.
Anderson has built a strong reputation in private equity having advised some of the world’s largest private equity houses as well as new fund promoters in connection with fund establishment, investment structuring, exits and regulatory issues.
He has also advised the insurance and reinsurance sector for more than 16 years.

Silver Lake, which makes private investments in technology and technology-enabled industries, has appointed Christian Lucas and Joe Osnoss as co-heads of the Silver Lake Partners’ business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Lucas and Osnoss will be responsible for sourcing, arranging and managing investments across Europe and expanding the firm’s relationships in the broader EMEA region.
Lucas joins Silver Lake from Morgan Stanley, where for the past seven years he has served as managing director and head of technology investment banking in Europe.

Richard Lichter, managing partner at Newbury Partners, will join Golden Networking’s second Private Equity Leaders Forum on 9 December in New York City.
The forum will bring together individual and institutional investors, private equity portfolio managers and executives, investments bankers, advisers and consultants from around the world.
