James R ‘Trey’ Hart III , who is responsible for sourcing and analysing venture capital investment opportunities in the US and Asia, joined Northern Trust from Greenspring Associates, a global venture capital fund-of-funds based in Baltimore, Maryland.   Adam R Freda, who focuses on sourcing, valuing and executing private equity and venture capital transactions on the secondary market, was previously at Wind Point Partners, a middle-market leveraged buyout fund based in Chicago.   "These appointments help to

Lionel Leventhal has joined Houlihan Lokey’s illiquid financial asset (IFA) practice as a managing director and head of royalty and revenue interest financing. He will focus primarily on royalty monetizations and revenue interest financings in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and diagnostics subsectors with a broader mandate to expand coverage into similarly structured illiquid financial assets in other industries.    He is based in New York.

Berkshire Partners, the Boston-based investment firm, has appointed Jon Meyer and Anil Seetharam as managing directors effective 1 January 2014. They join the 17 current managing directors of Berkshire in managing the firm and its affiliated investment funds.   Meyer and Seetharam will continue in their current roles within Stockbridge Investors, the investment group within Berkshire that focuses on marketable securities.   Meyer originally joined Berkshire in 1999 as a private equity associate. The Edmond de Rothschild Group has appointed Dr Naveed Siddiqi as a partner in its BioDiscovery venture capital funds franchise. Gilles Nobécourt, Raphael Wisniewski and Olivier Litzka, the three existing partners, say: "We are delighted that Naveed has joined the Edmond de Rothschild Group. Palamon Capital Partners has elected Julian Carreras, Pascal Jean-Noël Noth and Gary Pritchard to the partnership. Carreras, previously a principal, originally joined Palamon in 2003 from Goldman Sachs.  A Spanish national, he has consistently played an important role in executing the firm’s investment strategy across continental Europe with a particular focus on Spain and Italy.  He sits on the board of SARquavitae, Spain’s largest provider of elderly care, where he also serves on the Executive Committee.  He is also active in a board capacity in Palamon portfolio companies EnGrande in Spain, Sigla in Italy and Quality Solicitors in the UK.
