Private equity firm GenNx360 Capital Partners has appointed Otis Spencer, Jr as operating partner effective 2 January.
Spencer reports to Lloyd G Trotter, founding and managing partner.
Spencer will have the primary directive of creating value by driving operational execution within the GenNx360 portfolio. In addition, he will work with the GenNx360 investment team to identify and evaluate new platform opportunities, conducting strategic and operational analysis of potential deals as well as business model sustainability.

Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group has named Julius Genachowski as managing director and partner in the US buyout team.
He will focus on investments in global technology, media and telecom, including Internet and mobile.
Genachowski (pictured) is returning to the private sector after serving as chairman of the US Federal Communications Commission for four years, departing last May. He is an accomplished leader and expert in technology, media and telecom and brings to Carlyle almost 20 years of experience in the space. Genachowski joins Carlyle today and will be based in Washington, DC.

Deutsche Bank’s fund services business has appointed Kelly Gouveia as a vice president and head of its trustee business in Jersey. 


The fund services business in Jersey is a full fund service provider, providing third party fund administration, trustee and transfer agency services to hedge funds, private equity, real estate and fund of fund managers. The fund services business today services over USD200bn of assets globally.

Rob Boller is in the firm’s litigation practice. He represents companies, partnerships and individuals in a variety of litigation and criminal/regulatory matters, with a particular focus on disputes arising out of complex financial transactions. He also counsels creditors and creditors’ committees in litigation arising out of bankruptcy.
Brian Carney is in the firm’s litigation practice in New York. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation matters in bankruptcy court, federal district court and New York state courts, especially matters involving private equity funds,
Doug Smith has joined Insight’s corporate insurance consultancy business.
Smith has held previous senior positions as chairman of Marsh’s private equity practice and latterly as non-executive deputy chairman of Willis’ M&A practice.
Smith will team up again with former Corporate Risk plc colleague Colin Paterson, the managing director and founder of Insight, and will focus on broadening and strengthening relationships with the private equity community.
He will also provide strategic advice on growing Insight’s concept of introducing “Client-Side” (i.e. in house) corporate insurance expertise, free from any commercial conflicts, directly to the PE community and their portfolio companies,
Private equity firm HarbourVest Partners has promoted Julie Eiermann and Tim Flower to managing director.
Eiermann is one of HarbourVest’s longest-serving employees, joining the firm in 1993. During her 20 years with the firm, she has built the portfolio analytics team into one of HarbourVest’s most valuable assets. The portfolio analytics team is responsible for the collection, tracking, benchmarking, and analysis of all investment data, including primary partnership, secondary, and direct investments.
Eiermann joined HarbourVest from Advent International.

Commercial law firm CMS Hasche Sigle is closing its Dresden office.
The current head, Dr Helmut Schwarz, is leaving the firm at the end of the year.
Schwarz is joining Hamburg-based partnership CADMUS and will work in both cities in the future.

Catella’s president and chief executive Johan Ericsson has been appointed as the new head of corporate finance, one of the two operating segments in the company.
The role will be shared with a person who is to be recruited. The dual leadership structure will enable Catella to focus both on current operations and on business development.
Anders Palmgren will leave his position as head of corporate finance and, as a consequence, his position in the group management of Catella as of today.
As previously communicated Knut Pedersen will succeed Ericsson as president and CEO on 1 January 2014.
Ingenious, the UK alternative investment and advisory group, has strengthened its clean energy division with five new appointments, including Helen Wade as a senior investment director.
In addition, the firm has appointed one investment director, one investment manager and two investment associates. The appointments bring Ingenious Clean Energy’s team of investment professionals to 12, with over 50 years’ renewables and energy efficiency experience between them.

AllianceBernstein, a global investment management firm with USD447bn in assets under management, has appointed Christine Johnson as senior vice president – head of alternatives product management.
In this newly created role, Johnson will join AllianceBernstein's growing alternatives team and collaborate with senior investment and distribution executives to drive the growth of the firm's alternatives business.
Her primary responsibilities will be to shape a strategic vision and brand for the platform, focus the team on key business opportunities, and partner with distribution channels to position products and support client engagement.
