Law firm Sidley Austin has appointed Alyssa A. Grikscheit as a partner in the Latin America and investment funds, advisers and derivatives practices.
She will be based in the New York office and will focus on cross-border transactions and alternative investment funds.
Grikscheit has significant experience representing clients in Latin American, emerging market and other cross-border transactions, including M&A, joint ventures and fund formation.

C.M. Capital has appointed finance and investment veteran Bruce W. Madding as president and chief investment officer.
Madding has had a long career in finance, accounting, investment and asset management, including 22 years with the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation in Palo Alto, California, most recently as chief financial and investment officer.

Investment manager Insynergy has appointed Nicola Large as commercial director.
Working closely with chief executive and founder Spike Hughes, Large will have lead responsibility for managing the investment manager’s commercial and financial affairs.

Ian Pearson, the former Treasury and Business Minister and chief executive of a private equity and consultancy company, has been appointed as a senior adviser to Maven Capital Partners.
Maven is an independent private equity business which was established just over 12 months ago following a buy-out from Aberdeen Asset Management.
Pearson will work with Maven’s managing partner Bill Nixon to expand the business, which has offices in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Manchester, Birmingham and London.

Telecoms industry veteran Chris Wade has been named executive chairman of VC-Net by the UK’s video conferencing and telecoms solutions provider and its backers MMC Ventures.

IK Investment Partners, a Pan-European private equity firm, has appointed Kai Wärn as partner with future responsibility for strategy, operations and business control.
He is currently chief executive of Swedish-listed company Seco Tool and will begin at IK in January 2011.
Wärn will be based in IK’s Stockholm office.
Wärn has more than 25 years’ experience in the industry. He began his career with ABB where he spent nearly 20 years holding various senior international positions including roles in Belgium, Germany and the UK. Most recently he was responsible for the business unit robotics.

Energy Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on investing in North America’s energy infrastructure, has hired Rahman D’Argenio as a principal in the firm’s Short Hills, New Jersey office.
D’Argenio will be responsible for leading new investments as well as monitoring portfolio company activity across all of the firm’s major areas of investment focus in fossil and renewable power generation, midstream gas and electric transmission.
